Hey listen i will give u the small run down, basically i have got a RB26 crank and rods for my engine rebuild and also 86.5 Ross forged pistons, i got a GTR intake plenum, gtr fuel rail, gtr injectors, gtr reg and pump, N1 oil pump, HKS 1.6mm headgasket and 256 cams. Now basically my question is, am i going to be able to put all this together and still run the motor on the standard RB25DET computer?? The reason i ask this is because i dont really have the money at the moment for an aftermarket computer so all i want to do is drive it round, not wanting to make any power on it or anything i just want it to be driveable and do no damage to the engine, i will have to run the motor in for awhile so im not going to stuff anything up in a hurry, since the compression will be altered via the crank, cams, headgasket and machining the combustion chamber in the head i believe this will affect the computers way of controlling things a fair bit??/ ANYONE have ANY ideas?

noone?? any ideas?

seems strange to invest all that money and risk your engine on a poor tune.too rich will not allow proper bedding in and too lean could damage bottom end my suggestion is not to be silly and risk it.if you cant afford proper management/tune the you defineately cannot afford engine damage....paul.....DIRTgarage

The ECU/computer should have been bought before these list of mods took place.

I think runnning the gtst computer standard without any piggy backs at all may be a problem. At least an SAFC may be able to help a little. Might be a little risky as mentioned plus i would say that air/fuel mixtures might be out a little which is where the SAFC would help.

Check out investing in a WOLF ECU or an Apexi Power FC they seem to be the general standard in ECU upgrades on the SAU forums.

Dont chance a stock ECU with those mods.

with all the $$$ there, i wouldnt think of doing it on a stock ECU, let alone starting the car.

actually, GTR injectors i dont think work with a stock ECU, i stand to be corrected there though.

$1100 PowerFC delivered. not like they are hell expensive ATM.

ok, well i was only planning on running the motor like a grandma until i got the extra $$$ to buy the power fc and avcr. II understand that 1100 isnt expensive but i sorta stretched myself as far as i could with this build to do the motor properly whislt its apart this time. Would like to know more about the gtr injectors not being able to be run with standard ecu though!!!

shall do, hopefully i can driv eit there, motor is still out of car though, block is getting bored, honed, decked n o-ringed, plus porting head, cams are gtting reground, so when thats done, i can put it back together, although afew custom things have to be done. Thanx

Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
