the shimming dosent work well in a viscus diff ive been told by some diff exprts who build them for race cars.

Chris they s13 diff will bolt in 100% some of them use the skyline 5 bolt driveshafts as well, the only think i need to check is the bolts for the hicas rack as not many s13 have the hicas and the rear of the diff may be different

The Unique diff upgrade is still the std viscous diff so can only assume its been re-shimmed?!?!

R31Nismoid do you mind doing me a favour and PM'ing me the price and time to re-shim the std diff, i want to give the car a run down the qtr and a functioning diff would be nice.

Just got to find one at the right price, $1000 for a "i think its a..." is the best i can do. Another guy with a Nismo 1.5 for $500 stopped returning my email when i wanted to pick it up...and freight costs for a new diff from Japan make it too expensive, plus where i dont need to im trying not to lean on friends that have been helping me out with favours & parts so a re-shim is looking good. Patience is a virtue im told.

Clint, so your sure a S13 diff will bolt in no probs? Reason I ask, I can get a Nismo 2 way of a S13, with 5 bolt half shafts for a reasonable price. If you can confirm, I will most likely go down this route

P.S - haven't forgot about the carton I owe you, you gonna be home tomorrow night after about 7?

Cheers, Chris

chris im 99% sure they go in no probs, to only diff is they dont have the hicas mounts now you should be able to swap the rear cover plate with your std diff and all will be sweet, but without looking at them side by side i dont wont to give a deffinate answer

Chris32,

Don't know if this of any interest to you but in the near future I'll be removing my LSD and swaping it back to a stocker since I'm not doing any more track days and it's not really what I want for street use. ( Yes I'm getting old ).

I pulled the back cover off to check the condition of the diff in general and to determine what brand it was when I got it ( it was sold to me ex Japan as a Cusco 1.5 way ? ) and it turned out to be an ATS ( Active Traction Systems, Japan ) 1.5 way which was an extremely cool finding considering the ATS centre kit alone goes for around $1,800. plus shipping and fitting.

Anyway, I'll be looking to get my money back in the sale which is $1,000

It's in my R32 GTS-T at the moment but keep your eyes on the parts for sale page.

Sorry if this is what's considered hijacking a thread ( I really don't understand all these terms ) :(

    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools.
