So other night i did few hard braking and abs light is now on and no abs. Wheels do lock up

i have link g4 on my 1998 r34 gtt which has usb interface but i think that only replaces the ecu as I still have consult port

what I am not sure is if consult os reading and accessing ecu through the old ecu

so i bought consult and tried both consultz and nissan data scan 1 and neighbours can access the ecu or any other ecu as hicas was also removed

so i googled ans jumped pin 4 and 8 and still no flashing on abs light indicating what the problem is

read the link ecu and had no error and it is locked by tuner so can't access it

what are my options here to read abs fault and fix it?

Mechanic will have same tools as me

No. Take it to a mechanic who has a PROPER scan tool. Made by Snap-On, or any of the other $10000+ workshop grade scan tools that will connect to and read from EVERY make and model (with the appropriate licenses, of course).

Consultz and Nissdatascan etc are NOT proper scan tools. They are a valiant effort by talented amateurs.

right but where is the joy of fixing it yourself?

Link ECU replaces the main ecu as it is plug in so my question was does consult port uses the standard ecu to connect to hicas and abs etc / in another word, were you able to only access them throuugh standard ecu even though they were different ecus?

has anyone read abs module codes on nissan skyline and if so what software and port have you used

The joy is in getting the problem identified, because you cannot do it yourself unless you have drug money.

All CUs are on the same Consult bus. Access to the others is not mediated by the ECU.

I already told you - there is nothing out there. You need a workshop grade scan tool. This is a large handheld device that comes in a blow-mould case with a bunch of different cables that allows you to hook it up to diag ports on Nissans, Hondas, Toyos, BMWs......get the theme here? Or, you need an actual Nissan Consult tool. Same thing, just limited to Nissan only and more guaranteed to have the correct protocols and lookups for every Nissan.

There is only one diag port on your car. The Consult port.

Took it to two nissan dealer and they won't touch it as it has link ecu

thinking independent garage but haven't found reputable one

you can buy consult on ebay for relatively cheap price, does anyone know if there is a consult bus such as can so all ecus can be reachable via a bus lane without going through main ecu?

Yes, that is the definition of Nissan Consult. All the CUs are on the bus.

Any Snap-On, or similar scan tol, as possessed by ANY decent mechanic these days, WILL read all the CUs. I worked out what was wrong with my HICAS using a workshop grade scan tool.....20 years ago.

so I mapped the pins as per this link and my maxicom does not support it

it looks as I am out of any options, can't find any consult 1 or consult 2 reader.

as i understand consult 3 or consult 3 plus won't support my car. about to pull my hair.

been to an indepdent garage today and he tried his tool but didn't work ..

done for the night but was thinking of trying combination below tomorrow

so here is my experience and update for people in similar situation

https://www.autelstore.co.uk/wholesale/autel-maxicom-mk808-diagnostic-tool.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAqo3-BRDoARIsAE5vnaKsLh-sn8cKvzkdH1CrqG3mb3u-DT01nvn1Y5rBSiwnTwzv8FPTw-MaAvC_EALw_wcB

can read skyline r34 however doesn't have consult port adaptor.

so also bought below and confirmed it can read abs. I used the adaptor from consult to OBD and confirmed the Autel can also read the abs module.

I will map the pins using my multi meter and post back for anyone in similar situation in the future.

I saw a code saying ABS motor off, so back to basics, fuse was gone. Ouch that hearts by missing the most simple thing and going to get ecu to read it

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
