According to @acsplit apparently the forum is being migrated from one server to another so should be back up and running once the migration is done.

Cheers mate, @acsplit would know... bit of a pisser we never got notification, but not surprising.  I was primarily concerned with one 70+yo member there, who's halfway through rebuilding a re4r01 gearbag and relying on my help in that regard. I'm hoping wheezy might update the forum software at the same time (especially the media-wiki stuff).. I guess we'll find out.

Kudos...

Yeah looks like we have to do some upgrades 😔

I knew you lurked here ...<grin>... the SMF stuff I'm not terribly concerned about (but should be updated), it's primarily the mediawiki software I've wanted updated...for years now, since Session gave me access there and I was looking to clean it up (consistency wrt presentation)...and I couldn't get that to work properly, which I found out by cloning the wiki and setting it up under the latest mediawiki release, was because it's the actual version of the MediaWiki  being used causing all the problems wrt presentation....grrr. Then of course, the image repository which the wiki is tied to, has whacky permissions linking back to the forum SMF software DB, and because I don't have admin/mod privileges there, there's a number of things I can't do within the wiki...like...ie; fix/include images for the wiki....grrrrr....  😃

AFAIK, only wheezy has been maintaining this stuff, (he knows all about the above para), but life gets in the way (kids, vocation)...and like, now he's bought a sea-going vessel, so 'gone fishing' springs to mind B^)

You have a knack for understatement ...lol...

Yeah back online, big job to get that stuff onto a new Wiki but probably needs to be done.

Needs to be done for presentation's sake ~ especially the wiki, with talk some time ago suggesting the forum might go, and only the wiki being maintained. I've only been after that update since around 2018 or so, maybe I have to wait for the 10year anniversary 😃

  • 9 months later...

Just got back from a week away out west, and it seems the R31 forum isn't responding ~ I know there's a lot of AI/bot scraping causing problems on da'net at the moment, so dunno what's going on. I'm actually more concerned about another member on there, I've been trying to help rebuild his automatic box... no idea where he's up to in the build, frustrating, a bit it is....

Anyone got any news?

Ahh right, I did offer to help, but been a bit lax wrt donations...sigh... perhaps the roller door has finally run down...

We will review wtf is going on, but if you made any donations let me know and i will follow it up with the admins

Just FTR, I see this morning the site is up again ~ dunno what was wrong, or if @niZmO_Man worked some magic (thanks if you did)...either way, good to see it back (although by the sounds of it, the future is undefined)...it almost makes me wonder if R31SkylineClub should be incorporated here somehow?... 😃

Yeah I'm happy to talk to whoever, I don't want to take ownership or even manage it if they don't want but I can probably help with hosting on the sau setup. It's a great resource and should be protected.

Aye, it has been pretty good since the shift ~ I just want access to the wiki ..again.. (now the mediawiki stuff has been updated), to get it all straightened out with consistent presentation (I talked to Session about it, turns out the mediawiki version was largely at fault..and pages created with older versions, etc etc)...I've basically given up asking, never get a reply...bit sad...but it is what it is.

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
