i was looking at some older threads and found one that said that you can use a bleed valve on your standard fuel reg to adjust pressure? how does this work and would you need to use a fuel pressure gauge to set it?

Never heard of such a thing ever.But it's a good budget idea none the less.

But no it will not work unless you plan on internally modifying the flange of the fpr for adjustment.To hard for someone with limited access to the proper tools.Ive found one that someone has allready done through a search on the net and wherther it works or not is another question as i havent read any of it.

I say spend the money on a cheapie that you know is going to work you dont need to go for the brand names,you know wot i mean or you will after youo see what they look like in the end.

OK I give up, why would you want to lower the fuel pressure? Because if you put a bleed valve in between the FPR and the plenum that's what would happen. Surely you want to raise the pressure, or have I missed something? :confused:

But if you put a bleed on the manifold pressure line, then you could successsfully raise the fuel pressure.

There was an article in Zoom (?, might have been Autospeed) some time ago about just such a device, manufactured by one of the performance shops in Adelaide.

I remember reading an article in a magazine a fair while ago that one workshop found a cheapish way to lower the a/f ratio's by controling (to a degree !!) the fuel presure while on boost.

I don't fully understand how it worked, but I presume it bled off some presure etc..

Actually, I think someone here on SAU had one installed for a while.

A bit of a dodgy way if you ask me, I'd save myself the risk and get a S-AFC instead.

I have heard of reducing the fuel pressure to lean off an engine that is running too rich. Usually with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but I guess you could do it with a cheap bleed valve. In fact you could probably connect an electronic boost controller in between the plenum and the fuel pressure regulator and move the fuel pressure around to over come any rich spots. You can't do that for lean spots thoughs.

So, I am confused, where does the extra pressure (it's really boost ) come from? :headspin:

yeha i don't know, but maybe they thought that because a bleed valve makes boost higher, we could use it on a FPR and increase fuel pressure... HAHAHAHAHA thats funny.
