Mad Wagon. Did you get your RSM sorted out? Do you find that it gets in the way where it is? I have bought one to go on my car when I get it. Can you let me know what the problem was when you find out please? Oh and by the way what size are your rims? I have some 18X9 rear and 18X8 front ones I got in from Ozzy Tyres. The guy said they would fit. I'm starting to think they may not.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was talking to a mate of mine in Japan because we're looking for TE37s and he came back with this:

> I called the parts shop to specify the parts about Rays Volk TE37 Size is

> 17x8.5 30/40

> They told me this alloy has 2 types. they are 30/40

> If that Stagea is customized as low-down, the wheel size suppose to be

> 17x8.5 30/. However the alloy may scratch the fender of the car.

> If that Stagea is not customized, the wheel size suppose to be 17x8.5 40/

> However it may scratch the inner of the car

>

> The Parts shop adviced me that Ray Volk TE37 has other types.

> They are 17x8J 33/38 33 is for low down and 38 is for normal car.

One point of advice I was given when i got mine was just like the GTR u should keep the same rubber front and rear or they scrub out coz of the 4wd.  GTR offset seems to be +40.

Keeping the same diameter front and rear is correct, but width is irrelevant. :)

Thanks for the tip, so same size would be better for rotational purposes only and not so much scrubbing out problem, cheers.

Scrubbing out? That's more of a term I would apply to poor wheel alignment, not different size tyres on a 4wd. Having different diameter tyres on a Stagea will not scrub out tyres, but it will accelerate wear on the ATTESSA 4wd clutches.

Basically what you are looking for is the same rolling diameter of tyres, so;

245/40/17

205/55/16

225/50/16

225/45/17

245/45/16

all have basically the same rolling diameter ~630 mm

An example, if you have say 7.5 X 17 on the front, then 225/45/17 would be OK with 8.5 X 17 on the rear with 245/40/17.

You need to check with your tyre supplier, as diameters vary between brands.

Hope that helps :(

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
