hi all

i think i am getting very ripped off on my 3" aluminium piping, and i was wanting to know from people in sydney where they get theirs from and for how much...

i got one 90 deg for $10, and this other place wants about $50 for the same thing... i have no idea where i got the $10 one from, but yeah, i remember it was $10...

so anyone in syd know where u can get cheap piping please post it here

thanks

My last one cost $380 including silicone hose and stainless steel clamps. I bought straight 63mm alloy off cuts from Capral and two 360 degree donuts from GCG. I cut the donuts to make 9 X 45 degree bends, 3 X 90 degree bends and 1 X 120 degree bend. I took the bits along to Mick (Mick's Metalcraft) and he welded it up for me.

Thanks Syd that sounds a bit better.

Mick's quoted me $1000 (i'm assuming off-the-street price) for doing my pipes. ha!

That's for Mick to design and make them from scratch, I only got him to do the welding because our fabricator was really busy making a new rear end for the RX7.

Next time I think I will use these instead of donuts, cost a bit more, but a better job I think....

i did all the work myself, and i think it looks pretty good...

i will take some photos of it later

Please warpz0r, where did you buy each piece from?

Please warpz0r, where did you buy each piece from?

the intercooler is a hybrid 600*70*30 i think

silicon hose is not the shiny one

but if it does the job, why do i need to pay extra for some shiny stuff that i dont care about as by engine bay isnt on display

i got the intercooler of EBAY

Silicon piping was from GCG

Clamps were from the plumbing section of Bunnings Hardware

and for the piping ask around and tell them that the pipes are too expensive and watch how much they drop... worked for me...

Warpz0r-

Where'd you get the piping from? I guess if you've already done it I can call them right now and say I know a guy got x y z and I want that they should do that right?

Does your cooler have hybrid stamped on the top?

I've heard they are really good and really crap from different people and don't know what to believe no more!

But yea please do tell where you got the pipes from - I will go there myself it sounds great !

Also when you say 6*90 that means you had to get 6 90 degree bends right?

Thanks for letting us know!

SK - What are those bends in the photo? They look Mandrel bends. I take it they are aluminium? Whats the deal they look alright.

Yeh luke they are good, hey? Much easier to use than the old donuts, I always stuff up at least one cut on them. They are mandrel bent and GCG sell them, plus they have a lipper onsite. So it's a breeze to plumb up you own pipework, just choose the bends, get them to whack the lips on them to stop the hose slipping off. Grab some straight silicone pipe and few clamps and play assemble the jigsaw when you get home. No welding necessary. :D

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
