there are SO OOOOOO many thread on turbo choice here, and would like to get some peoples experience with turbos down here ...

I'm thinking of a new turbo in the next few months, and have read the whole high flowing v BB turbo threads ...

I'm in agreement with sydney kid about the whole useable power thing, and a turbo is absolutly no good to me if it does not come on boost until 4500 rpm ...

i'm looking for something to produce about 17psi psi, and start to come on boost at around 3 - 3500 rpm (ish)

I rarely touch near the red line, doing most of my hard driving in the 4-6000 rpm range ..

Its a S2 GTS-T with a hks pod, and turbo back 3", emanage is on its way ....

so what is the best turbo choice for this application ???

Well your not after a power goal or 1/4mile time etc from what i can tell with your first post.

If you want something that kicks alot harder than the standard turbo, pulls all the way to redline, and spools about the same as the standard turbo.. Then either go for;

Highflow

HKS 2530/40 or even 2835 if you want more power

Garret GT28R

Otherwise the GT30 would be great, although these are rated at about 500hp which means you need to upgrade a few things first, IE injectors, fuel pump, ecu etc but that comes with any new turbo

Check out GTS-t VSPECs graph in the dyno graph thread running now to see why.

I did and this is what I saw..........

Read that power graph carefully (note that it STARTS at 90 kph) and you will notice that it has LESS power up to 106 kph than a basically standard R33 GTST (refer 05YKO_r33 ‘s power graph in the same thread). By “basically standard”, it has an FMIC, 3” zorst (inc dump) and a boost controller, it has no fuel or ignition timing changes from standard and it runs a standard turbo. Ohh, it has standard injectors as well. :jk:

That means up to around 4,000 rpm it's gunna gets its ass kicked by a basically standard R33 GTST.

Both power graphs are on DD's in Shootout Mode, just in case someone is interested.

So tangO, personally I don't think this turbo is for you.

From what youve said a descent highflow will suit your pefect,

They can be had for cheap, usually around $1500

And can be flowed anywhere upto about 400-450hp

Main advantage of highflowing is cost and easy of installing.. It goes on the same way it came off, no fabrications etc .. almost anyone can do it

You get the turbo back 100% brand new, every moving part is replaced and the turbo is even all shiny again

Steve: Can u get a GT30 with an internal wastegate?

I worked it out as probably being in 3rd actually (21 kph/1000 rpm), but I shoudln't have to WORK IT OUT. It is supposed to be written on the Shootout Printout by the Shootineer. Hey Steve, isn't that a breach of the Code of Ethics? :Bang:

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
