I saw OBEHVE at calder last night..... what a monster!! Black R33 GTST

What is its best time??? i have done a search and it seems like a well known car but couldnt find a consistent time....

A young guy was driving it but it looked like he couldnt get the power down for a while, but when it picked up, christ did it move!!!!

I saw under the bonnet, looks like BIG dollars have been spent on it.....

Yes OBEHVE is a monster and no it wasn't written off ages ago....I know this 'cause the owner has a few things done at ATP where I get my car worked on. If fact the GTR rear wing on my car was originally OBEHVE's.

The young guy driving it hasn't had much experience with the car running the figures it is atm so I wouldn't be surprised if it was sideways 1/2way down the 1/4!!! The owner of ATP often gets to drives it down the 1/4 'cause he can keep it straight

yer, the owner doesnt actually race it @ calder. I've had a chat to him a number of times. He seems to be pretty cool. Been running on and off for 6 months or so.

It runs a big auto

Personal opinion... do it in a skyline... do it with a manual

atleast he walk 10sec

Ash......yeah mate he isn't a bad bloke. The car used to be a manual but when it started pushing 300+kw at the wheels it was impossible keeping her straight thru 2nd and 3rd gears......the solution was found by fitting a manual-ised auto box. Apparently she stays very straight thru the gears under full noise now :P

atleast he walk 10sec

wtf are you on about?

Ya ant, but manual is half the fun of the skyza!

I must say though, i dunno how all these people are sideways in 2nd with 220-250rwkw when they come on boost or whatever.

i certainly aint with my car if i do a tidy gear change from 1st to 2nd.

Ash.....I know how much fun the manual is...I own one :P

Mate your car isn't putting out enough torque if you can't get sideways with the mods you've done......I had my car dynoed a couple of weeks ago and I'm getting sideways in 2nd and 3rd gears. Also thats with no gear change, I was in 3rd and hit the loud pedal thru the floor = soooo many Nm.....

mmm... manual :P

you guys must be running some dodgy tyres or something i reckon.

i made 275kw @ race pace, drove home without a problem. As long as i dont go silly in 1st, 2nd was a breaze, and the car has a pretty phat graph. So it's not as if its only making power in 1000rpm.

I can get it sideways if i pop clutch, or just keep it sideways from a hard launch in 1st, but anyone can do that. Im talking 2nd, from 20km/h or so.

I get a squeal of tyre, but certainly not slide-ways.

Hrm. Once i get it back again (turbo spat a bearing) we'll see how it goes with more road "testing" ;)

Ash is this the turbo you got at a special price that shat itself??:D

LOL hasent it only done about 3000km??

Was this the backyard leb spec turbo special??? :(

I made 255kw @ 1 bar at racepace and if i go from 0km/h in second and floor it mine will wheel spin from 4000rpm to 7500rpm with 255 rear tyres. At 1.4 bar its even worse and 3rd gets slidy also.

denham. sh*tup you keyboard warrior. honestly, get over it will you.

there are many things that can cause a turbo to fail that fast.

maybe use your keyboard to find some of them? U seem to use it a fiar bit

Ash I dont need to use my keyboard as my turbo not blowing up for over 10,000km says it all :)

Only thing that can cause a brand new turbo to fail so quick is that it was made badly in the first place or you had a oil/water problems causing the bearing to fail from getting too hot

thats the only twot things you reckon?

lol. you've got no idea. There is a massive amount of things.

do your homework before you throw you keyboard around.

SLY - yer, could well be why the car wasnt right @ MAS. It blew the next day afterall lol.

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
