I've just landed a 2001 R34 and am attempting to mod the suspension. I have decided to go with King Springs and was trying to get Bilstein shocks as I was advised that stock shocks wouldn't be up to the task. Problem is nobody seems to know whether the R34GTT has the same rear suspension mounts as the GTR?? Apparently Bilstein only make Coil over Springs for the R34, and I didn't want to get that serious. Any ideas.......recommendations???

BTW: BIG THANKS TO PHIL AT www.directimported.com.au for delivering an immaculate car.

i have some apexi t-max damper adjustable shocks for sale. They are brand new and will fit your r34 as long as the rears have the fork type setup ( what is used on the coupe r34 gtt). Theyed go nicely with kingsprings or whiteline springs, since they are designed for use with stock or aftermarket springs. i'm after $1g for the set.

They are made for r33 gtr, but will fit r34 gtr and r34 gtt. i have confirmed this with an owner from New Zealand.

otherwise bilsteins or koni's have an outstanding reputation. i'd be after damper adjustable so as to set it for different driving styles and condiditons.

Congrats on the car BTW.

Thanks Chef. So from what you're saying Bilstein do make shocks for the R34GTT as they are the same fitting as for the R34GTR? Cause that's my preference at this point, to go Bilstein.

Do you know of any part numbers I could throw at people for the front and rear Bilstein for the R34??

Firstly, you should double check that the rea shocks have the fork type setup i mentioned. Take a look under the back of the car and follow the shock down its base and make sure its not the eye bolt type. Once confirmed, you should try looking for r33 gtr shocks, as these are more common than r34 gtr's.

It is common knowledge that the r33 gtr and r34 gtr share the same setup (as shown in link below), but don't expect the companies to have the knowlegde or want to share it since they are better making people distinguish between the shocks for sales purposes.

If you reconsider the apexi's, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the follow up Chef_32. You are 100% correct. My car has similar shocks to that of my friends R33 GTR. I will keep your shocks in mind, but as I said before I really have my mind set on Bilstein. Thanks again for the offer though.

    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
