Who want's my spot @ Sandown Driver Training on 17th October

Recommended Posts

I have a PAID spot for the Driver Training Session @ Sandown this Sunday if anyone would like to attend. You will need a CAMS L2 licence (I think you can get this on the day if you are an SAU Vic member) I have waited untill today to advertise this as I was still holding on a lil glimmer of hope my car would be on the road by then... this is not to be.

Not 100% sure if a swap can be done in this way but it would be a shame to waste... anyone even considering doing some track work in the near future should do this course.

BTW IT'S A FREE SPOT not asking for any money.

Free spot hey!? The rex could use another track bashing. I'd be happy to take you around as a passenger! I was going to be there all day anyways helping people out!

Sold to the frosty look'en fella down the back gettin a-head in life!

I will make my way down on the day and will hold you to the offer of a ride round the track. Should I get in contact with Nissan Datsun to let them know about the swap? Or do you think it could all be sorted on the day?

Yeah I was actually going to say I have done heaps of stuff and will happily let anyone else that wants to do it take Robin's/my spot. I said I was going to be helping out as a passenger for a bunch of guys here anyways on the day - but if no-one else wants to take his place then I surely will.

Should I get in contact with Nissan Datsun to let them know about the swap?
It's OK, I'm watching. But who ever takes your place will need to fill out and sign the application form, for legal purposes (insurance, etc).

You have obviously considered getting another car for the day?

Thats a good point greg - you can take out ANY car robyn. Doesn't have to be the GTR. I did a Murcott motorsport training day and 2 guys in deisel rodeo utes spent the day having a ball around Sandown. Was damn funny.

I have taken my daily driver out before at Winton. Didn't do the sidewalls a lot of good but it was still a lot of fun. Thats what I was going to use if I took your spot cause my GTR is in the workshop.

well if u dont want it i know i need some training... can i bring the ceffy now its road worthy again???
You can bring a Kenworth truck if it's roadworthy! Well, not quite.

Why not come down and enter anyway. It really is value for money, at just $85. Considering the Maseratti day the following week is $125, you might get 12 laps on that day. This day, you will probably get that in your first session on the track, and you should get 3 or 4 sessions on the day. Plus the added benefit of an instructor to help point you in the right direction.

cause i dont get paid til late this month and all funds have been going into fix the ceffy... which isnt "roadworthy" as the front tyres are bald on the outsides... bloody fussy bastards :D

Snowman: haven't those wrx tyres had enough roll on them already :D

i'd take the place if its inark/snowman dont take it - i didn't sign up since i wasn't sure if my car would have a gear box, it does now... not fussed either way, ill probably still come down for a watch regardless

I'm happy for Inark to get the ride if Snowman has had heaps of track work already and since Snowman has said it's coll already consider it Inarks ride (are you gon'na give me a few laps as passenger in the cheffy?)

And as for getting my hands on another car? I have no other car and I would really only have the option of mum's or sisters cars... don't think they would be thrilled with that!

lol just tell em ur going down the shops for a bit...

when u get back and they ask why its over heating.... tyres are bald and the brakes dont work... just say it was hot out :P

    • It’s definitely an import, the Aussie ones have reflectors in the rear bar, it’s also a turbo which none of the Aussie one were.    I remember back in the day I want a twin turbo z32 so bad and then I saw a 32 gtr and that was the end of that lol
    • Same can be said for Subarus motors ha ha!   I like the 300ZX, I nearly bought a Z32 before I bought my first Skyline. It was going to be a project. Then I found out there was a bit of a dodgy title with it... As in, someone attempted to commit insurance fraud with it and there was now some dodgy legalities around it. So at 18 I walked away from it.
    • The below is what the readings I had with the fuel pressure gauge which were correct. It seems like the issue is mainly during drive and not idle. I bought the new hanger hoping it could be the issue, perhaps I ruined something while cleaning, but I have not installed it yet since I have to wire up everything with the new plugs.
    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
