Having a spot of trouble getting my head round the AFM thing. RB20DET PFC like all has 5 AFM options. Yet when you check next to the appropriate one nothing changes?

What does the figure next to the AFM volt setting indicate?

Gee that will help...

Will have a look at mine at lunch, you have it set to VG30 80mm I take it

Hi TT, my understanding is that those numbers refer to the 5th Option in which you plug in your own polynomial:cheers:

Hi TT, it's my understanding that it's for Option #5 so you can set up your own polynomial:cheers:

As far as I can see, the voltage reading with 100% along side refers to the fuel map... So if I want to lean off when the AFM output is ie; 1.28v then I ramp that number 100 down.... so effectively the A/F will be say 95% leaner at that point. The 13b looks like it uses PIM rather than AFM, but the end result is the same.

The actual air flow curves are different... Datalogit people may only know what I am talking about. And yes Skid, If I wanted to run a MkIII pulminator for AFM then I could form my own curve...

Not thick down 'ere, but slow sometimes.

Funny, yesterday I was playing around with my PFC to see what your on about TT :D

I must have left it set to option 5 in the AFM setting, as the car wouldn't idle at all, then I realised I must have not set it back! :D

But I think SK and TT are spot on, its there to setup your own curve

Also, just a quick PFC Q while I have most of the other RB20 PFC owners here, the knock sensor function - is it possible to set the 'check engine' light to come on earlier or later? I wasn't sure if this was adjsutable, and cannot find a option to change it

Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris, knock sensor is adjustable, there is a threshold (0 to 100) and a setting (0 to 9 , I think as I have never adjusted it). Usual threshold is 60, and flash is set to 9. This flash interval is so you can tell what sensor the Engine Warning light is flashing for. They are located in the Settings menu but it has been a while since I used the Commander to do it, the Datalogit is so much easier.

Hope that helps:cheers:

Ok I will have a look, cheers!

any chance you can have a look at this question I posted, your input would be a huge help - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=54225

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
