It's that time of the year again and lets look at what we have.

Ferrai, BAR, Mclaren, Renault, Sauber and Toyota have pretty much secured their racing drivers for 05.

The million dollar question. Who will partner mark Webber for 05? IMO, not jungle boy Pizzonia. In race conditions he could not match Webber, and not even touch Montoya. I bet Frank was pulling whatever hair he had left for Ralf to come back. Patrick Head went on record saying he wants a driver capable of winning the F1 crown. Other front runners are DC and old Mika Hakkinen.

Pace your bets for the remaining drives at Williams, Jordan, Minardi, and possibly whoever buys out Jaguar.

Jordan said they will call it quits for a season cause Cosworth are going down the hole. He said they would be back for 06 if possible, but unlikely.

But now Toyota said they would be keen on supplying engines to another team on the grid, and Jordan are linked to this rumor.

What about the concorde agreament if Bernie cant get the right amount of cars for next year?

I hope DC gets the drive for williams, he is the perfect guy for a one year contract, and maybe after that would get a role behind the scene.

Did you hear the Bank of Scotland has a wad of cash in Coulthards back pocket, whoever signs him will get approx 10-15million in sponsorship:)

I dont want to see Pizzonia get the drive, although they are saying he is the favourite for the seat at them moment...arent they having a test day late November? Basically they are going to throw Weber in the seat and look at everbody's times?!?!?!

I cant see Mika getting the drive...thats an even bigger gamble then signing Coulthard...how long has it been since he has driven F1...too long and you would suspect he woudl need plenty of kms in the car.

LOL... cruising around an F1 site i found...

"It is shaping up to be the largest auction in Formula One history...there is even one lot suitable for aspiring F1 team owners, as it includes five Arrows chassis complete with intellectual property rights, relevant drawings, a spares package and a quantity of support equipment."

What do you think SAU, we make a bid, paint them up Red whie and blue and get a Renault engine deal and re-badge the thing Nissan...i dont want the drive, i want to be team manager and scrutineer of the pit girls

that an interesting pit crew... im sure if we got something along those lines we would get more fans/sponsors than ferrari.

If only SAU could generate 100 million dollars a year (minimum) from donations so we could run a team. Id be happy to help you out roy, ill manage the pit crew while you keep any eye on the team :)

one day it'll be a reality...

i wouldn't mind being the agent that supplies them to sau. damn think of all that hot ass. hell yeah!!!

Mika will NOT be at Williams for 05.

He's following Alesi and doing DTM.

So who is left...Davidson seems to be mentioned quite a bit  I reckon they should offer Alan Jones a drive, make it an all Australian affair:)

I heard Jordon's getting some big investors from China, since it was such a success in Shanghai.

As for the spare seat at Williams, I reckon Mika would be great for the seat. He's the only driver aside from Schui, that won't complain and actually be really competitive all year round even if he doesnt have the pace. But since he's ruled out, DC or Heidfeld will get a go. I think Frank's going for experience which is why they wont want Davidson.

I would like DC to get the seat but to be honest he's not a World Champ. Reminds me of Ervine, the're only good for a supporting role. He no where near matched the pace of Raikkonen this year and has struggled with Hakkinen in the past. We'll just have to see how it unfolds!

Have to agree with you about DCs results this year. But it all comes back to qualifying, he is hopeless at the one lap stuff, and if you go back the the Mika & DC years, i think he was the equal of Mika. Go back and look at race results, car failures and team orders to pull over, DC was unlucky not to have one of Mikas championships.

If he goes to Williams he will really need to get his head around qualifying...or needs qualifying layout to be changed:)

...Pizzonia was quick the last few days in testing...i think he is most likely to get the seat, butr who knows...noone saw the Button thing coming:(

Someone translated a Mika interview in Finnish. Sir Frank Williams did contact him and he was going to come back but then backed out. Button was second option but then the contracts review board knocked him back. So I say it's down to three drivers.

Davidson, Heidfeld or DC.

Jaguar now Red Bull Racing! And Cosworth has been sold to Forsyth and Kalkhoven (another Aussie in F1)

Also announced today Jordan will get the same spec engine as Toyota, but no drive for Briscoe:(...and Minardi to get the same spec Cosworth engine as Red Bull Racing.

So things are looking up for next year:) No wjust have to get the final Williams seat for Couthard and ill be happy:)

    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
