Hi There,

I'm just about to buy some premium plates (white and black ones).

It says they are slim size for the front, does anyone know if they fit into the standard R33 gts-t series 2 bumper (with out having to cut them or bend them?)

What have people done??? Any photo's would be good...

Cheers

Rob

thanks skyline33 and riggaP!

i would have never have thought of something so simple as a little spacer.

does anyone have any recommendations what i make it out of? i dont wanna scratch my paint. maybe if i do use metal i firstly spray in in rustproof then paint it black? is it possible to buy plastic spacers for my front plate?

wow.. 60bucks!!! they cost $110 i think for a slimplate with numbers u cant choose in WA.

in perth.. i know that if u get the black background and white letters u get to choose your letter and number combinations but it costs an extra $50. so its about $160 here.

if u go the full custom they cost $275 in perth, thats for steel paltes not polycarbonate.

Just use shock eye bushes to space the plate, the kind that press in from either side. They are rubber and won't damage your paint and when used in conjunction with longer bolts are a cost effective option. Get them from any good spare parts joint.

Smiling politely

Rhys.

In QLD (not sure about other places) you can only get a slimline plate for the front, the rear has to be standard. Or what they cal "yankee style". This plate is taller and not as wide as normal aussie plates, and fits in the space at the back perfectly.

But the front slimline is usually longer than the space allocated. What I did on my Bomex bar was cut out some hard plastic (think it was the devider from a wheely bin) to fit in the space and screwed the plate on through the plastic. Bit dodgy, but is never to be seen again and cost nothing.

Robo, you CAN choose what appears on your NSW Slim-line "Premium" plates, and here's the link to it...

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/nd/nd4/ndconfig....LPS/pgCarPlates

It's got all the details you were asking for, including price, dimensions (measure the space you have on your front bar), etc.

Hope this helps...

Nick

    • To be determined, Luke, to be determined. 😁 Definitely the car
    • It might be worth having a good look at the chassis behind the bumper then; most people prefer the series 2 look so it might have been changed to cheaper parts as part of an earlier repair
    • The car itself a series 2. I was just curious about the headlights and just wanted to confirm that they were series 1. Good to know the rest of the front end is series 1. It’ll be easier for me to find parts on the aftermarket side of things lol
    • If you've wired up the coils & injectors properly, & have the neo CAS loom for the trigger, it should all work. The VCT works the same way so just different plugs between s1 & neo. Assuming DBW if no IAC. Don't bother with the stock boost solenoid with g4x.
    • THERE IS NO IAT SENSOR ON ANY SINGLE TURBO RB. And the one on an RB26 is not for "engine control" - it's really too big and too slow and is only used for over-temp alarming (as far as I can tell). Anyway, you don't have one. You want/need one for the Link, then you need to buy one, find a spot for it, and wire it in. You do know that the stock boost solenoid is not capable of "control", right? It is merely on or off, for the low boost (5 psi) and high boost (7psi), which the ECU enforces mostly based on gear. The stock solenoid is not for PWM control and is not plumbed up in a way to provide it. If you want to control boost properly, then you need a proper MAC valve. And yes, you can wire either of them direct to the ECU. Well, I assume you can - I don't know what the boost solenoid pins on the plug and play Link are capable of. They really should be as capable as any normal Link - but seeing as it is plg and play, it might be limited to stock functionality. Read the doco.   You really do just want to plug stuff together without understanding how it works, right? I can't help you there. I don't know the plug types or pinning on half the stuff you're asking about. If I had to do it I would sit down with the wiring diagrams, the car/looms and a multimeter and work out what is what.
