Optimax Fuel

Hey guys, I will be holidaying over there later this month and was just wondering what the availability of Optimax or similar was like in the country areas of Vic, NSW and QLD. It's not even available here in Tas. Am looking forward to getting over there and trying it out, but once there I want to keep using it for the duration of my trip. Thanks for any info.

It's around but you do have to be careful, sometimes filling up when only half a tank down just in case. Also you can use BP Ultimate.

I have done a fair bit of driving recently with my skyline up to qld, down to Wagga Wagga and up around Mudgee and didnt have any trouble finding Optimax. I think any town with with more than 5000 people seems to have a Shell servo that has Optimax. The main thing you will have to worry about is how to get the bugs off your car.

It depends on which way you will be travelling.....

If you are heading north through vic, nsw, qld you will most likely go inland or along the coast. On either route you can travell for many km's without finding any decent 98.

yeh if your going into the country it'll be worth it to carry some octance booster just in case...

in most towns you'll find Optimax and maybe BP Ultimate.. you'll find anything you want in Sydney

Remember that the fuel in country areas is probably replenished at a slower rate than in the city servos (who have much higher volume). The fuel starts to go "off" after sitting around for a few days, so you may not get the full benefits of Optimax (or any other uprated fuel for that matter).

Im runnin standard boost and I cant use anything but 98. If I use anything less she'll start knockin like a jackhammer!!

on our sydney -> alice springs drive, the only time we couldn't get 98 was halfway between cooper pedy and alice.....so I wouldnt worry about it....just fill it up every time you find some
