Guys,

Just to get it back on topic and to have my 2 cents worth on the recent activities and mod situations.

I myself have been a member on SAU and even back in the old school of SDU! thats right SDU when Bam Bam was still in diapers and Paul the post whore didn't even know what a keyboard was! :-)

I just want to reflect back to where things were back then and how they have progressed and look at the now.

back then in 2001/2002 the members i recall mostly were JOe PVA, Troy skyzer, Dan IMACUL8, Boostzor (judge Reinhold days) and Kyles of course.

Back then with not many members things were running quite smoothly little bit of funny hoaring but nothing major but no disputes.

As time has gone on the forums have gotten VERY big and much has changed on our time. Some of the mods that are currently on here such as PVA and Skyzer have been here with me since DAY 1!!! if it wasn't for these 2 i would not have even heard about SAU/SDU.

These 2 are passionate if the forums as much as I am and never try to get in arguments but keep a unbiased side to it all.

the mod team has now expanded and things can and will go wrong, we are human after all. things have changed ..... for the better.

It has been unfortunate for the past couple of months to see squabbles happneing and sometimes biased sides have been taken, amongst all this a workshop has been partly lost in the midst of it all. whether or not it is in person or on the keyboard the words you portray in here are your thoughts. as far as i see it things are in now in the past. Sorrys have been given and hopefully everyone is willing to move on.

The forum here always has been such an abundance of information and help, i would have sold my skyline if the forums weren't here the help i have received from members over time is astounding and am thankful of it which is why i would like to say what i have to say next.

I as a forum user am thankful to the mods and to all members on here, from time to time things may go wrong however we are only human. The mods do a fantastic job helping us organise events aswell and making sure rubbish does not get posted. With the amount of people currently using the forums i understand it would be a hard job to do it. the events have been awesome lately aswell!

Some of the solutions i see at hand and perhaps we could figure out as forum members which ones we would like:

1. expand the mod team.

2. a list of mod rules for mods to live by.

3. A SENIOR mod in the WA section. If we feel a mod is being biased or not performing let them know.

4. A change of all mods?? ( I would hate for this to happen, personally as i have already briefly touched on as to why i feel that way))

5. keep the mods we have and create a list of rules for them to mod by (as mentioned point 1)

sorry its such a big post, i guess in my eyes it kinda raps it all up for me. things have changed a lot over time from where we once began. People like Joe and Troy are some of the founding SUAWA members and are very pasionate about the forum and i feel are doing a great job. If anything as a worse case perhaps 2 more mods could be added temporarily and a list of rules to follow??

Just my 2.... actually with the size of this post 50cents worth!

quick 2c here. i was really sad on tuesday watching steve walk around the workshop picking up his tools and clearing out the place. 30+ years in the industry and that is the uncerimonial send off he got. its a shame... real shame.

Thanks Sileighty. I don't think people know what there talking about with a lot of the crap been said and they don't know all the reasons why he decided to call it quits so the speculation and rumours I have heard have been pretty upsetting to all his family, me included. It is really great to hear a comment like that! Proves there is still decency in the world! Thanks!

As for a b*tch sesh, nah, I am truly not a b*tchy person and I truly feel sorry for the mods!

As for Michelle Roberts, I will join in THAT b#tch sesh tho!

ahh no worries... hope you all enjoyed that bottle of wine i gave to your dad and mum.

Bam - i thought you might like the diapers bit :-)

So then perhaps a list of rules to be followed by them then? suminf like this:

RULE 6. MODS ARE TO TAKE AN UNBIASED APPROACH TOWARDS ALL THREADS AND MEMBERS.

sumfin like that? perhaps if we agree on something that will resolve the problem we can get started on sorting it out.

If a list of rules is required then we could make thread with rules on them.

just a suggestion.... it could prove quite positive as once that is done we could send it onto prank and perhaps this could become the stanrd rule of thumb for all mods accross Oz....

wow and to think of it.... power to the little people :-)

Have stayed out of the SST shitfight as much as possible and glad it has been resolved, maybe not to the satisfaction of some but at least SST, or whatever it will be called can move on.

To Steve, good luck and I do mean that sincerely as we have known each other for a long time and it was a shame we came to loggerheads at the end.

I wish you and Sharon all the best in your new venture the same as I wish Anthony and Fabs all the best in theres.

As far as the mods go, this has been one of the most bitter times I have ever seen on this or any forum and I am amazed at the amount of vindictive posts that were thrown( not posted and thought about) on this forum over the last few weeks..

I feel sorry for Steve and Ant that it came to that as both are good people who I have a lot of respect for.

The mods did a very good job in my opinion to quell what was a series of posts/innuendos and downright hate which surfaced on this forum at unbelievably strange times of the day and night.

I see no reason to change the order and it would have been a VERY hard decision to edit/delete/modify posts without seeming to favour one side or the other.

Take this post as you will people, I am considered to be an opposition shop and as such should have been happy to see SST copping it but believe me, it almost bought a tear to my eye to see the way they were degraded on a public forum. Every shop has it's problems , it's just SST were a fair bit more public in both there actions, words and responses which gave a lot of the net wannabes plenty of ammo...

Once again, I reiterate , the mods did a good job in a very harsh time for SAUWA and to that I applaude them..

Dan, I was in SDU btw as well...:)

And also to add to the original reason behind this thread..Tee Jay( sounds like a black rapper.lol), I forgive you , you bad boy!!hehe

Cheers

Ken

Hi Team

We do have a list of rules for all mods throughout SAU that we try our very best to adhere to:

  1. Always PM the thread starter if you are going to move/delete a thread.

  2. Never totally delete a thread unless requested to do so by the thread starter. Move it to "Moved". Of course if it's just a test post, duplicate etc. it's OK to delete.
  3. If unsure of a thread's appropriateness (is that a word?) move it to "Moved" and discuss it in the Mod section. You can always move it back if required.
  4. Be sure to treat all board members fairly and equally (Regardless of what they drive!)
  5. Do not disobey the forum rules because you are a moderator.
  6. If you need to edit/delete a single post, edit the post and write in RED. Write in the post that it has been removed for whatever reason and use the “Warn xxxx” button at the top of the post to both notify the user, and to make a record of them being notified of the mistake.
  7. If you remove multiple posts from a thread, leave a little note rather than sending 15+ PM's. Use the “warn xxx” button once per thread only.
  8. Keep threads in the correct sections - pm the thread starter if you feel it is neccassary when moving a thread. Make sure to leave a redirect.
  9. Don't make your own items for sale 'sticky'!!!
  10. Try to keep post whoring down in the 'FOR SALE' section.
If there are replies complaining about the price, remove them and PM the poster, refering them to the 'FOR SALE' guidelines. Anything that is not on topic is to be removed.
  11. If you are unsure about the content of a thread, move it to the moderators section, and if need be, it can be restored to its original position once it has been assessed.
  12. All threads promoting illegal street racing are to be locked ASAP
  13. Please make sure to read the Mod’s section at least weekly to keep up to date with any changes.
  14. If you are unsure, then ask.

  15. Common sense is the main factor here.
If something is offensive, then remove it.

Regards,

Dan

Gtrken - Oops my bad!! true i do remembere back hereing all the stories of an awesome driver who drove a 300zx (insert GTRKEN here).

P.S. my friend Jesse in the bright Orange 300ZX doesn't stop raving about how good you have been to him! i think you have a fan :-)

Dan - what should members do if they feel those rules aren't being adhered to? do we have a point of action plan or follow up plan to ensure members are confident there issues would be looked at and addressed?

just to clarify it's aright dan i don't have a dispute :-)

just helping clarify this to the general public.

So at present should someone feel that a mod is not following the rules the best course of action would be to PM prank of the situation.

In saying this, it would never go astray to let Prank know of the good things that the mods are doing! i love the events we have had lately, plus laughing at dan and Niz's pink hair at dinners is always a good thing!

P.S. correct me if i am wrong... But i am suuuuure Ken drove a blue 300zx?? am i right or was that someone else... I'm sure it was ken.....

I also remember watching some of the coolest motorkhana footage of ken driving!

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
