Oh yeah, no question about that... The 3S-GTE GT-500 car would destroy a V8 Supercar...

But this car isn't one of them. It has more power and less weight than a V8 supercar but I think the V8 would still nail it, just my opinion

Yeh that makes sense :warning: :s So that supra has over 700 hp & the v8 super cars have 550 hp & you think a v8 would NAIL it? The supra is in the 1200 kg bracket, what do the v8 supercars weigh? Im thinkin supra would nail it *just as long as the BIG v8s arnt light :s*

V8 supercars have over 600hp and weigh 1350kg... Imagine the lag of that turbo on a small engine, it would not be great at corner exits even if you kept the engine spinning hard. Also they are fully developed racing cars which is worth a lot...

But it would be an interesting matchup anyway, oh well, we will never get an answer.

Yeh true, when i thought about it there would be a lot of difference in torque through the RPMs. Leave it at that.

That SUPRA was built purly for the top-speed trials a few years back. They use the 3S-GTE because it sits further back in the engine bay for weight distribution and centre of gravity. Also if you are going to compare that to a V8 supercar be realistic. The SUPRA is built for straight line top speend and stability, a V8 supercar is designed for circuit racing. If the SUPRA was set up for circuit racing you would find it would be to close to call.

this car was built for pure top end speed 200mph+, from memory the owner of top secret was fined in the UK for doing over 300km/h on a public road in this car..just some more info.

Looks like the one in the High Octane 2000 DVD.

Check out the "Option Speed Trial" segment.

An identical spec (wide body, Top Secret, gold, 2.2L motor)

was entered in this high speed trial in NZ in 2000.

The original motor was replaced with the short motor for improved circuit racing

handling to bring the center of mass closer to the back of the car.

THe car kept blowing off hoses (too high boost) and did not perform as well as it had in Japan, ie +300kph.

This is quite a good DVD by the way.

ok ok if you want to get into the "will this beat a V8 supercar" blah blah blah then remember your putting a $500,000 V8 race car up against a $170,000 stright line speed car, 2 very different cars...

there is ABSOLUTLY NOTHING special about this car, it even uses EXTRA INJECTORS hahahhaha.. very dodgey tuning.

all crap, all looks.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
