i have heard stories that they can sometimes be a little tighter becuase the know the cars not theirs and probably just a 18 year old getting their mum to put it over for them. I know this isnt you case but i guess only one way to find out

+write them a letter telling them its your car and u have work bla bla bla and ur mum has to take it over and ur sorry u cant be there bla bla bla

could work, betta than posting up on a forum thiunking ur all good cuz ya dads gonna take it ova i guess

/me keeps running

It was failed on an "oil leak" and one of the boots had slipped off. So..that's being fixed up (again) and in another few days I go over again. Can someone come with me and hold my hand? I don't think I can handle rejection a third time.

i'm down the road, may be free if i can finish my thesis soon enough.

i know the rego inspection is a harrowing thing - my r33 was clean as a whistle but they still said it was too dirty near the engine number. they also didn't like my rims, said the car was too low and the spare tyre hadn't been marked "80kph only". i failed first time too!

they were pretty critical of my compliance workshop - they said, "your car should be able to pass first time straight from compliance. once the car's been through compliance you shouldn't have to do anything more to it. that's what compliance is". they advised me to call for a refund because clearly the workshop hadn't done their job.

that said, they were really helpful the next time through. turns out the area around my engine number is heavily scoured but about six of them gathered 'round with torches having a good look...."ah, the next letter could be a Q? or maybe an O? or a zero?".

edit: meant to add, a good attitude will do wonders. :P

In my and many other peoples opinion, he doesnt know what he is on about. He is apparently an Ex-public Servant who has read a few books and done a course or two. Supposedly he has never spent a day in the trade. I have spoken to many people who have had him inspect/pass their cars and they have been pinged at Rego. You will be back over the pits again. Dont sign or even fill out any papers he gives you or anything like that. Go see Ray Spencer at Canberra Motor Works.

I have passed.

It's a strange feeling having registration.  I still look over my shoulder everytime I take her out though....

It should feel good, not expecting a tap on the shoulder when you take it out....errr....

Anyway, congrats on getting the mighty VR4 legally on the road!

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
