What a fu(ken joke. If "ratings" and "post history" are all you care about well yeah why not leave. And as for SAU Vic, it's people like you who sit on the side lines and take shots but don't have the motivation to get of your arse and help that I despise.....

Come on boys... I see cracks forming in our GREAT FORUM and COMMUNITY. No need to get narky... Good progress in forum / events and members section have been made since I joined only 8 months ago, but coming from someone who is "new" also... it can be hard to get involved and does take that extra effort. If it was not for the HUGE ammount of time I spent on the forums B4 my car arrived and all the GREAT help I received (I owe you guys heaps) I think after attending my first club meeting I would have also left. I think I made an extra effort to talk to people as I remember walking into the room at the Whithorse and not a single person said hello, hi, or what are you doing hear. It's enough to send a person straight out the door. Same thing happened the next meeting... I now know a few of you and I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I can see how a paid member and we have ALOT may be discouraged from arttending and putting up there hand to help the club. We have XXX members we get XX attending meetings and group x and group x talking at the meetings... thats the way I see it anyways.

Please don't get me wrong I love the SAU group, but dont get on this guys case because he is upset.

you guys ever heard about being diplomatic in your responses.

people are always going to have an opinion or issue with the club and are going to vent it on here in many ways that probably arent going to be to our or your liking, as reps of the committee you really should be a lot more tactful in your responses.

it reflects on the club.

Hi Adz, I'm not swinging shots at anyone, and personally I reckon, each to there own including Rob... but I sort of agree with him, only because of my own experiences, about the VIC club being a little "slow" in getting things done. He may have other motives, or he may not...I dont know and dont care! But damn me, I remember when I had pretty much organised the "distributors license/deal" with eXedy, and the BFGoodrich deal, and all that was needed was some paper work from the club... which never eventuated, and what a runaround.

Again, no pun intended to anyone, I really do think you guys are genuinely passionate about the club and it's direction..

OK, look it really gets up my nose.

I'm posting this here because as an indiviual I do understand the concerns of club members. I can see from thier point that for the $50 they have paid that they have not received all that much and I do agree. What people dont see is all the time we spend whilst we are working our day to day jobs and after hours. Who ever thinks setting up a club is a simple task should think again, I've got letters from the Department of Justice, the government etc. It's one hell of a big job. Of course things are going to start of small and slowly but there has been progress made and I feel things will only get better with the sponsorship as this offers you disscounts etc and also puts more funds into the bank. Just out of interest do you guys have any idea how much CAMS charge us to be affiliated? It's a fair bit let me say that! :D But there is also a lot of work to be done in the events side too, we need locations, ways to get there, people to do the run and check it etc and there are only so many ideas to come up with. Thats why so much input is aksed for and out of 109 members most of the time you can count the response on one hand. You might wonder why I take things like this so personaly though hey, well it's because no matter how hard I try it never seems to be good enough, always seem to fall just that one step short.

So all I ask is next time before someone takes a dig, how about you approach the committee about the issuepersonevent that your having an issue with and sort it out like adults instead of a child. The best resolution for conflict is discussion and I'm sure that 99% of issues that usersmembers have could be sorted with very little fuss. As an member not a committee member I am more than willing to help anyone with any issues as I'm sure a lot of you know so as stared if there is a problem PLEASE LET SOMEONE KNOW.

Also there was a VERY good point made by RTFGTR, I remember when there was no club, just a bunch of people with cars cruising and I didn't know anyone at all. For the first couple of meets I came and stood alone not knowing anyone and it wasn't untill I introduced myself that I made some great friends so I do think a little more could be done there and I will look into that myself BUT it doesn't hurt to come up and say hi on your own :)

Adz its not just about that, its sort of loosing a family album not that extreme but building it up again at the moment with the amount of hours I have spent on the forums. With something simple as keeping accounts right for users to logon without the hassle, people in this busy time of age don’t have time to f**k around or get f**ked around. Like I said I have gotten busier with work and studies making me spend less time in front of the computer, but still trying to contribute in “some ways” on the forums in the limited amount of time. I’ve been meaning to reduce the amount of time on the forums not because I don’t want to..just because I don’t have time!!! With my account gone it’s a good enough reason to give it a break.

Adz I have nothing against you, you’re a top bloke!! You’ve always helped me out with parts questions, going out of your way to help many times.

In General…my post was my opinion, I didn’t expect/need people to have a go at my opinion otherwise I wouldn’t of posted it.

.

funky i mean no disrespect...

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
