In the media again!

Street racer ploughs into crowd

AN angry mob of drag racers turned on police after an illegal street racer careered into a crowd of spectators in Sydney last night.

Up to 30 people lay injured on the road and footpath as punches were thrown and officers shoved.

Dozens of police raced to the scene in South Strathfield to help bring the 50-strong crowd under control.

One of the first officers to arrive at the scene radioed for urgent back up, telling the radio operator: "The crowd has turned on us."

Two police officers were injured and two rioters were arrested.

Officers held back the spectators as dozens of injured were being treated. One man, standing between the parked car and another vehicle was crushed.

Bystanders dragged the vehicles apart to free him and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A spectator had his foot badly broken and another had a bone protruding from his arm.

The drama began about midnight after a P-plate driver took off down Madeline St, heading west, in a Datsun 1600 for the first illegal run of the night.

He lost control of his car, slamming into a parked vehicle and sending it spearing into the spectators.

The crowd turned ugly after the media turned up, forcing police to step in and protect them.

A police spokesman said 30 people were injured, several seriously.

The fight began as the crowd turned on media crews, including The Daily Telegraph and a Channel 9 news crew, who had arrived to cover the accident.

The melee continued early this morning outside St George hospital as the injured arrived in ambulances for treatment.

Police have been cracking down on illegal street races, which have claimed two lives in the past six weeks.

A young couple killed in a horror smash in Revesby six weeks ago are believed to have been involved in a high speed race down Milperra Rd.

Robert Peov, 21 and his fiance Joanne Mourani, 20 were killed on December 20 when his green Nissan GT-R Skyline crashed.

Police said witnesses saw a silver car speeding from the scene just after the young couple's car, which was being driven by green p-plate driver Robert, slammed into a power pole and was torn in two.

Mr Peov's brother Chinda was in the back seat and suffered serious injuries.

A week ago, police raided a notorious drag racing strip in an industrial area at Macquarie Fields.

Over Thursday and Friday night the police caught two 19-year-old p-plate drivers speeding as they raced other cars.

Both had their licences suspended and will appear in court for dangerous driving.

Natural selection doesnt seem to be doing its thing these days:( Perhaps we should appoint an elite squad of police officers with powers similar to Judge Dredd...

These absolute d1cks need a wake up call, and Police sure as hell shouldnt have to put up with that sort of carry on, the fact that the agro continued at the hospital, for christ sakes nurses and doctors deserve better as well:(

Dont believe everything you read

They got aggressive with the cops because they didnt want the polic and media butting in, they wanted to take care to the situation themselves, not have a public spectacle made of it

I sure as hell dont believe everything i read...but what sort of BS is they wanted to sort it out themselves.

LOL....Dont worry officer...i know who it was, me and my mates know who did it, you just go on your merry way. We will be around this persons house in an hour to fux them up, so dont you concern yourself.

It would be like me getting busted cooking up some speed in my garage, and my fellow speed freaks telling the police / media not to worry, we will sort this out, its no concern to you:)

These dils have WSID only 25mins from them:( And its already tough enough to have a modified car these days without giving govt more reasons to legislate us into Daewoos:(

apprantly the datsun was running a sr20, as it happened at the bac of my house, my mum called me to the verrandah to listen wats goin on (just heard screaming) the datsun ran into another car and dat car went into the crowd.. i think the driver ran off coz the crowd wanted to "get" him... then i went to bed

Natural selection doesnt seem to be doing its thing these days:(  Perhaps we should appoint an elite squad of police officers with powers similar to Judge Dredd...

or make it cool for cars to have bullbars (to make them go faster, you know)

that way if it were to happen again....well...it would be fun

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
