Hi guys,

I'm finally taking the plunge and buying what seems to be the most common setup for R33 suspension.

ie. Bilstein shocks and Whiteline springs (as recommended by Sydneykid)

UAS have em for $225 per shock ($900) and the springs are $295

Total of $1195

I haven't said anything about the Skylines membership and don't know if it will make any difference but I'll try.

Has anyone else seen it cheaper or is that pretty much the going rate?

Installation will be done by me. (oh dear) but it should be fun.

Sounds good.. $1200 to get your car to handle like a charm.. Sounds like a good deal to me ;) The prices are about the same I was budgetting for.

Probably similar setup to what I'll be going for. But I might opt for Koni's to save a bit of money.

Yep UAS have a 10% discount for SAU NSW members....you might just need to remind them....

its probably also worth looking into the sway bars as well....

....then a new set of notlec bushes....

then it will handle great ;)

I did ring back before you posted asking about a Skylines discount and he said 5%.

So about $1140. But 10% would be fantastic! ($1080 !)

Yeah, i guess the rest is on the list too, on a long list that i can literally wait years to do bit by bit. But like many peeps here, I've bought a place to live in up the Central Coast, and i had to fight nail and tooth to keep MY last bit of savings to go towards the car.

This kind of setup that your going for, is this suited for an all round performance?

Or suited for Drift/drag/circuit?

I'm interested in what kind of setup would be good for either of these types of racing conditions.

My setup is for road use, but harder and better handling.

Drifting would require the ultra hard Jap shocks i would say (not that I've ever drifted..)

I've bought em, got em put in for a case of beer and had some fun doing it too.

After we did the whole lot! Lowered the car of the jack, didn't look quite right...missed a few pieces and had to do all 4 again !!! hahaha! But still fun and a great learnging experience.

Well, i now know i was one of the lucky ones!

I just checked where i got mine from with the 'Duncan' suggested 10% off

I got an absolute bargain!

The price seems to be no more...thanks to me..sorry

I won't say too much but a bit of investigation should see what i mean.

Anyway, lowered the car enough for me. almost so you can't tell, but the front is no longer higher than the back. Looks how it should i think.

Springs are quite hard, need a good shove with your body weight when standing beside the car.

But handles lovely! and a bit more "like a go-cart" is a term i here alot....(well maybe not quite like a go-cart)

Still in the bedding in stage and need the wheel alignment/balance but overall very happy! and pleased to have it done by a someone of the forums rather than a mechanic. Quoted $300+ for installation. Me....done for a case of Crownies...$48, plus the fun of doin it yourself it seeing it done.

Hunt around...!! and read HEAPS and search HEAPS on these forums

hmm, i've found bilstien shocks/springs to be a bit sloppy, the use for my car i need very stiff suspension.

They are alright though, they are good for driving around, they are kinda stiff so they are everyday friendly, but when you want to do more spirited driving or drift, i dont really like them.

My friend had his Koni's revalved to Tein HA specifications and thats awesome. But probably too hard for some/most people.

Depending on what you really want out of a suspension package, bilstien is good because they are quite friendly on the street and kinda stiff so u can do a bit of track stuff... but if you want to be more adventurous i would be looking for a name brand coilover (tein/hks)

      Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention

      So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small.       From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
