Will the new GTR come to Australia???

Hi guys I've seen some interesting stuff relating to the next GTRs looks on this site

but

does anyone know if Nissan has the balls to bring the GTR in itself or will it be grey imports still...

I went to the Brisbane car show a couple of weeks ago and asked the Nissan guys if they were going to bring in the GTR when it comes out and they said

NO.[/SIZE]

I dont know how qualified they were to give an answer, they might have been from Nissan HQ or just been Nissan salesmen from Brisi.

Does anyone else have any idea??? because it sure seems like Nissan doesn't have a clue... again.

Rumour has it that it will be coming out in AUS, and it's been posted on here a couple of times that Nissan Australia has applied for a patent or trademark for the GT-R name.

But, I guess we'll just have to wait until 2007...

I believe all Nissan Australia employees are ex-Holden, ex-Ford people? Of course they're gonna say no because deep down they (emotionally) don't want to see their secret hero car, the CV8 or whatever it is, get absolutely get thrashed into submission.

Hell I wouldn't be suprised if Nissan Aust. was *offered* the next GT-R and they declined.

surely they are use to "getting thrashed into submission" by now :D ?

I'm pretty sure all those stands at the bris motor show are (mostly) placed there by local dealer chains to promote their sales...and anyway as far as commenting on future Nissan company policy I reckon they'd be about as qualified as those two blondes who were walking around in latex hotpants handing out flyers...

Incidentally I believe local dealers DO resent the number of imports floating around simply because:

a) they provide a very real alternative to an otherwise small and expensive sports car segment (ever notice when mazda/nissan etc have their endless sales they never, EVER put 350Z, RX-8 etc on sale??

and

B) because imports provide access to a product which often exceeds locally delivered equivalents for a lower price, and is outside the network of authorised dealers: ie they can't make money selling them. This is why most dealers won't service your skyline - not because it's impossible for nissan to get parts, or because they don't know how the skyline works (RB engines are quite common, Super HICAS was in the 300ZX) but because by keeping them outside of the accepted service network they help propagate the fear that people should stay away from imports, that they're somehow inherently going to give their owner trouble etc.

The fact that people are interested in the new GTR is proof that their strategies have failed, rubbing their noses in it.

Anyway, I read an interview with the head of Nissan Australia a few months ago and he said he would love to sell the new GTR here, if he can, but wouldn't commit cos it was up to Nissan's worldwide marketing strategy basically.

If the CEO don't know, somehow I think two lackeys at the bris motor show whose normal job is prolly washing cars at the local nissan dealer may not be in the loop really.

Quickest way to ensure Nissan will sell some GT-Rs out here?

Get a petition of people together who are planning on buying them, take it to nissan head office and say

"Hey, here's 20 people who are willing to pay $120k (or whatever it is) a pop for a GT-R if you'll sell them to us, and if not I guess we'll take our business elsewhere..."

Interesting thread really. I would rather Nissan Australia DID NOT bring in the new GTR. Why? Because I would rather take advantage of Japans rapidly depreciating used car market and import one thats a few years old, and save myself $100-odd grand, thanks.

      ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?

      Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.

      Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?

      I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
