Alpine "Ipod ready" any1 know...

With the current Alpine head units saying they are iPod ready (with adaptor cable)... does that mean they are iPod specific - or will work with any MP3 player?? I dont know much about MP3 players - so yeah - can they make it iPod specific or are they just using that coz everyone (except me) knows what they mean???

yeah few deck about that are ipod ready..... i am pretty sure it is IPOD specific...

IF you want to use any MP3 player, why not connect it to the auxillary input (presuming your deck has an aux in)

The Alpine decks need a special adaptor and control unit. These can only plug into a few certain models of Alpine deck. They plug into the port at the bottom of the Pod and led you control it from the deck itself, just like you were scrolling thru a mp3 CD. Its a cool bit of gear, but can you imagine trying to search for a particular song using the deck controls? I'd just use the shuffle function which kinda defeats the purpose.

On my alpine iva-d300e touch screen i just touch the directories and surf through the ipod like that. it rocks!

Thanks for replies - will look at using auxillary input for now if it is Ipod specific the other way.
