Just wondering whether it's possible to swap diffs between models, say for example r33 gtst viscous LSD and driveshafts into r32 gtst.

Or even r32 gtr rear diff and shafts into 32gtst.

Also does anyone know the type of LSD used in the gtr rear diff? Plate type or viscous?

What mods would be needed to the tail shaft/mounting points for either to fit?

Or worst case (more expensive) is an r32gtr rear subframe a bolt up to an r32gtst using the gtst suspension components?

Just looking at my options as my diff is well on the way to open wheeling and i'm not really keen on an aftermarket diff atm as the car is a daily driver and harsh enough to drive right now.

I know I made a R32 GTR diff go into my R33 GTS4 for a short time!

Now it's for sale on ebay if you want it :D

I thought I had GTR front diff ratio, but it turned out I didnt :D

So the diff itself actually bolts up no prob. I wasn't aware of the spline differences but was pretty certain the drive shafts were bigger. Also i think the gtr uses a 6 bolt hub.

Thanks for the reply.

don't forget that guy is running a GTS4 (which he should have mentioned! :D)

There is another thread on all of this (possibly in forced induction).. but basically fitting the GTR diff is *not* a straight fit due to the different splines.

Well, actually predator it was mentioned in my first post that I put it into a GTS4 & thit it's an R33!

Anyway, I believe the diff center should bolt up no problem, but the the axels need to be changed because the output flanges on the GTR dif have six bolts (evenly spaced). To change to GTR axels, which are thicker & have a larger spline where it goes ito the hub, means you need to change the hubs as well!

Let me know & I can easily measure the length of the axel or spacing of the diff bolts for you.

The attached picture might help you compare it to your current setup.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
