if anyone wants xenons in the r34, contact Nathan at Grey Imports, 9519 5150, he converts most of the r34 headlights from xenon for compliance, and I'm sure he can help you out.

so have ur 'TCS Off' and 'SLIP' lights sorted themselves out? - i just took my car for a spin (after about 1 week) and got engine light and the 2 TCS lights, ran like shit for a while, pretty lumpy and rough, but bout 10 mins more driving and it was smooth as again. I was doing the whole turning off and on thing as well. Didn't work but then after a few mins driving, tried it again and the engine light went off.... bit more driving, off/on - and then the TCS lights are off.

According to the manual, when the 'TCS OFF' and 'SLIP' lights are BOTH on, it means the Traction Control is 'temporarily unavailable'.

My car is a manual by the way... so you've had no more TCS light problems?

yeah mines all sorted out...it was a wrong fuse in place....stereo installer stuffed up...causing the ecu to register all kinds of errors when hooked up to the nissan consult machine. With ur problem, definately bring it in to a nissan dealer, let them hook it up to the consult machine and go from there.....

  • 2 weeks later...

been in Malaysia for a week and a bit, just took the car out then and i couldn't get any of the TCS or Engine lights to disappear, sounds like it's missing a bit.

With the 'bring it to nissan dealer' there is slight problem as it's not rego'd so i can't actually drive it anywhere. I guess i could get a temp rego, but then the drive to the dealer, the car wouldn't be insured... a little risky. A mate of mine told me to disconnect the battery terminals overnight... so i'm going to try that (gotta search for how to do that) - but yeah, if not... will have to get Nissan to take a look.

how do u get into diagnostic mode for 34's?

cheers,

daniel.

You need to short the circuit for 2 of the pins in the diagnostic port.

Do a search you'll find all you need to know about it.

Sounds like your coil packs are on their way out.

Run the diagnostic and see if it says ignition circuit failure.

i don't know if the problems simular but TCS, Slip and Check engine would come on randomly when driving long distances (about 15km), i checked out the engine with the car running and found a huge leak in a vacume line running to the vacume sensor (the little thing tucked away next the brake cylinder). After a quick repair job, the boost gauge now shows vacume but most importantly the TCS problem seems to have gone! I can only suggest checking every vacume line in the engine bay, since a vacume leak or low revs can trigger the 'check engine' light.

i really don't know much about engines, so a vacuum leak i'm guessing it's not going to be leaking a fluid anywhere... what exactly are the steps involved in checking the vacuum lines? where do i look? cheers...

Well i disconnected the -ve terminal over night (should i have disconnected both terminals?) and took the car out bout 1 hour ago, so prob got about 20 hours of having the -ve not connected. Ran smooth for a bit, no lights, then after about 5 mins, TCS and Engines lights both came back on and then the car started to ran a bit rough, lumpier idle, not sure if it's missing a bit...

coil packs? my car is a manual, does it still have coil packs?

not from Malaysia, just have family there. born here, half australia, half chinese.

hehehe, well i did some searches, and from some threads here it just said 'negative'...

fine, i'll do both :)... try this again... - dude, i'm a total newb with this car thing, i wasn't sure how to disconnect the terminals! just happened i had a spanner to fit the nut on the terminals...

what do you think about this whole pumping brake thing?

and if disconnected both terminals doesn't fix it? Take it to a dealer?

i left the engine running and happen to hear a whistle which turned out to be the vacume leak, i was lucky to hear it but some leaks you can't here and would need to visually inspect the hoses and their connections. However the bad news is that it didn't exactly fix the problem, it still does it but not as regulary as it did.

well took the car out a little while ago for about 15-20 mins, after having BOTH terminals disconnected over night, and she ran fine. No lights at all, no scooby moments, ran smooth.

I don't know if it because of both terminals being disconnected, or just happened to run ok... but it's fine for the moment.

that looks awesome. I've got this little ass laptop from when i was a at school, Toshiba Portege, small as anything (cos everything is external) but would fit in the glovebox, so the Nissan Consult thing looks awesome...

Troy, as far as i know, car has never been jumped... oh wait, the compliancer did say they had to change the battery cos the original one was flat, so if they did that, that means someone would have had to discover the fact it was flat and maybe jump it at some stage. Why do you ask if it's been jumped?

and do Manuals have coil packs? all the coil pack stuff i've been reading at in regards to 34's seems to be with auto's???

i'll take the car out again tonight and see if it does it again.

    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
    • It's TWO steering wheels actually. 😛 one for each hand They are wheels, and they steer!
