So I turn into a single lane road yesterday, the closest car going the same direction was indicating to turn into the street I came from and there was a reasonable space till the 2nd car. Dad was following in his car and he waited for the 2nd car before pulling out. After the 1st car turned off the road, the 2nd car put the boot in and quickly accelerated behind me. Being in my sisters exa, I was struggling to get up to the 60k speed limit and didn't appreciate being pressured like that. The exa's on its last legs and really can't handle much of a beating. Even so, there was plenty of distance for me to get upto speed and not be in the way of the 2nd car, had the 2nd car been driving sensibily.

I was doing the speed limit soon enough and I still had this tool-wit sitting mm's from my rear bumper. Usually in this situation I just tap the brakes, but its a painful exercise getting the exa back up to speed, so I give the tool the finger.

In 100m's we stop at a set of red lights, I'm at the front of the left turn lane and the 2nd car is behind me. I glance in the rear view mirror and see the tool-wit get out of the car. "Oh, oh", I wind up the window and lock the door. I take another look and I kid you not, I see a fcuking bikie walking towards me. 6 foot, built like a brick shithouse, beard to his nipples, tattoos, the lot.

We have a heated shouting match through the glass. He clenches his hand into a fist and aims it at my head. Wham! He thwacks the window, thankfully it doesn't break. I'm looking at traffic wondering when I can drive off. He aims for my head again. Wham! Window is holding tuff. I'm like, "bugger this", and drive though the red light after checking for traffic. Still had it in 3rd geard, so much panicking and jerking before I got it into 1st. The exa barely made it off, but not before the tool-wit gave it a decent kick to the RHR 1/4 panel. Dad was behind the tool-wits car freaking out. Good thing he didn't get out though, cause the tool-wit had a passenger.

The exa has a huge dented panel now. Better than a dented head, I guess :(

Lesson for the day: There are bad ppl in Perth! Don't make gestures or even eye contact with other drivers. In Germany, drivers get a $1500 fine for pulling the finger. In South Africa, drivers can get shot for pulling the finger. Would have all ended differently if the bikie pulled out a piece, which we know they can get easily.

Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you anoyed (pulling fingers). As for the road rage thing, telling people " hey you keep doing that and you will be in jail by this afternoon " usually cools them off a little before the window punching stage. If not take the rego and report them to the cops as you drive off. You did the right thing in driving off BTW.

I had plenty of people hop out for a chat without me even giving the finger or anything. I guess people can't afford a boxing club membership and this is their outlet?

I have successfully used the " you are going to jail by this afternoon" comment many times and on the odd occasion I have stepped out of the car to queitly chat face to face.:(

Thank god for the tough exa window. My mate had the same thing happen to him in a Supra, but the window didn't hold.

It's a pity that there are people like that around, which makes you feel uncomfortable about making eye contact.

Yeah sure there are times I get pissed off at people in the right hand lane going to slow, but the worst I would do is swear and give them the finger.

I hope your dad got their license plates, cause road rage is taken quite seriously by the cops/courts now.

See'ya:burnout:

Holy shit

Lucky they didn't chase you down or something

Really goes to show you have to be careful about what you say to people sometimes.

I lived in the UK for 3 years, and found that often in pubs people would get into fights just for looking at each other. Thankfully I haven't seen that happen too often here :(

gradenko- i hope u or your dad got his license plate number?? please dont tell me u didnt get it! all u do is take this to the local police station and file an incident report.

heres a little story for all.. this guy at work was out doing a job (he;s also a valuer) and this cheesehead throws a ROCK at his car window for no reason at all. seriously though this guy must have been seriously retarded coz his mobile phone number was on the side of his car(it was a company car). so every time this guy at my work has a bad day he just rings this guys number and abuses him. hehee..... :burnout:

It always amazes me that some people think not only that they own the road, but that they are infallable and never make mistakes on the road - everyone makes mistakes. What's worse is that dicks like the one you ran into don't seem to realise what f'heads they are. Had some dude road rage me and I didn't pull the finger or abuse him, just smiled caringly at him. I don't recommend this as I probably was taking my life into my own hand as he got so wild he was drooling and spitting as he yelled - then I couldn't help myself - I burst out laughing at this clown, at this point perhaps the penny dropped cause he put his head down and drove off sedately.

I think you're right Gradenko - just ignore them is safest, but please report this dick, he's bloody asking for it trashing your car.

Hi Gradenko

Your conclusion is right, in these sorts of incidents it’s not worth escalating the situation by sticking your finger at him. But having said that, I think it’s terrible that he punched your window. I mean the guy abused your car. Now think of your car as your girlfriend, what would she do ??? !!! I think your car should have defended itself by reversing into him and break his legs.. Hmm but I don’t know how you’re going to explain that in the court of law though … ‘ but your honor, I didn’t do anything, I was just a passenger. He hit the car and it hit him back’ :(

Bye

PS: My logic is just too simple .. :(

Thanks for all the support, fellas.

Yes, we got his car model, plates and very good visual description. My dad (who was more shook up about the incident than I was), spoke to a friend of his in special division today and we've decided not to lodge a formal charge. I won't go into details, but guys, take into account that the driver of the 2nd car may be a bikie.

I can understand where you're coming from, I'd certainly think twice before taking these lads on...... but it really sucks that even the law advise people to tread carefully, if they can't protect innocent citizens who will???

that's it!

i'm becomming a bikie!

funny incident once on canning hwy. there where these two guys (one was in supra and the other was in a magna) and i was behind them all the way from orrong/canning hwy intersection to the freeway south. they managed to sit side by side at no more than 70kph yelling abuse at each other, yet they never got out of the car at the lights. just challenging each other when they had a turning vehicle or bus infront. the most bizzare road rage i've seen. :bahaha:

shame i never saw the incident

i think all people who commit these crimes should be made to drive lada nivas for the rest of their life.

so what happened to your terrorist impression?

i reckon you would have made him piss,

"Im gonna blow you up mutha****er"

Anyway, if the cops understand your position, and hate bikies as much as they say they do, cant they slip you his address? we could discreetly set his house on fire.

yeh road rage sucks, it helps to have dark windows. when things get dodgey just put the windows up and lock the doors, no-one can see you then!!

just to add another story...

i was walking down to the beach one afternoon and this P plate pulsar cut off a falcon xr8 (fairly badly as well) anway the falcon driver followed him and eventually managed to cut him off. they almost hit each otehr but mr falcon managed to corner this guy in the pulsar. mr falcon then got out of his car, punched mr pulsars window in, then continued to beat the shit out of him. i was so shocked!! some people are just plain pyscho! (psiko even:D)

Didn't go down so well, came off as some git in a car shouting his head off :(. Maybe if i had a toy glock in the glovebox. Speaking things to hide in the glovebox, when does the pepper spray come in, deesh?

we could discreetly set his house on fire.

Stop giving me such excellent ideas :(

The exa did, I don't think he would have seen me very well. Dark tint on the rear window was half the problem. If I had seen the driver through the rear vision mirror, I wouldn't have been pulling fingers, thats for sure :)

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
