Chris,

Maybe you can try Dave Forrester Fine Detailing. He is at Unit 9/24 Hooker Street Islington. 0419439795. Ring him up and get a quote, but I think its roughly $110 for wash/buff/carpet clean and good overall tidy up. I've seen his work and it is pretty good value for money.

If you have small paint scratches/blemishes/dents, ring Colour Mechanix on 0412213990. They do very good touch up work if need be.

Anyone know any decent car detailers in Newcastle?

I am after paint/engine bay mostly, Intereior a bonus.

Cheers

Chris

We use Baywash, they are here in Nelson Bay.

If you saw our car on the Drag Combat stand at last years Autosalon, or in issue 25 of the magazine you will know why. He is about $300 for a full job but spends 1/2 day on the car. Worth the $$ IMHO.

Hi Paul, Im trying to give my place a free plug here. We spend the full day and are a bit cheaper than that. You should give us a try. We own skylines and have had plenty of showy cars in the past. Have done cars for a few people off here. Probably would be a big ask to get yours any cleaner though! Cheers Darren.

sorry didn't recognise you in the suit...j/k

two blokes....5hrs...plus paint protection...$300

= bargain

but....ive seen your work and would recommend that anyone living in Newy to see you.

How big a chunk are we talking Dave?

and where abouts on your bar?

Cause fibergalssing isn;t that hard, and you can get repair kits that are fairly inexpensive.

I've cracked my 400R bar and I'm gunna fix that myself.

Well, myself and some of my friends who will rpob just stand around, talk and order the pizza :headspin:

eXc, how come you are getting the car detailed dude?

I only just had it imported, and I thought I'd get it cleaned and buffed proffesionally, then I can just maintain it. Like I tried to clean it up, but I just can't get it the way I want it, so I figure for a bit of money I would.

I have decided to use a guy that was reccomened by a spray painter that I totally trust. He is gonna do it for $150 which is everything BUT a polish/buff. I am gonna have a go at that myself, if not, the spray painter I know will do it for $200ish...Works out to $350 all up and I think it's worth it, I have seen the painter's work and he is really good.

The detailer doesn't want me giving out his details tho. He no longer does it for a bussiness, he is doing it as a favor for the spray painter.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
