Why do you want one? They are really only useful in rally cars and motorkhana cars; absolutely no use - or benefit- in a road, or even a race, car.

AFAIK, they aren't manufactured for a specific car - they are pretty generic.

If it is your only handbrake, if not illegal, it's at best pretty dangerous. The fluid can cool and contract, releasing pressure on the brake. IIRC, a guy "lost" his car, and found it several hundred metres down the road, across the other side of 4 lanes of traffic! It didn't hit anything - how lucky can you be?

I was thinking that drift cars use these. And seen as though i may see a drift day or two,it maybee worth my while getting one.

Are there any difficulties experienced drifting with cable handbrakes?Other than i suppose the stretch they would have after a few thrashes.

well they only really involve putting a master cylinder in the cabin without a resoviour, so that it connects in between the master cylinder and the rear brakes...the one i had in my past car involved re-routing a section of the rear brake line into the cabin through a master cylinder that would normally be used on a trailer, that had an in and and out instead of an out and a resovoiur, then just modified a handbrake i got from the wreckers to activate it...you can buy hydraulic handbrake setups from places like race-and-rally i think...

the master cylinders look much like this one...

could probably set one up like they have in the rally cars so that it's a seperate handle next to the steering wheel or something :P hehe

So you recon a second handbrake could be intergrated into the car totally dissmissing the cable handbrake when i dont need it.

Are the drifters of the forum experiencing any problems with their cable handbrake.B4,during and after drifting?

I.e.Excesive stretch, not enuf bite as what you need.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
