After fitting the new springs and shocks the cars feels really good one the road. I used to have problems with under steering cause to front was bouncing so much.

Just a couple of points for others to remeber when doing the same job.

1) Be prepared to spend the whole daying doing it.

2) It is an absolute pain in the a** of a job.

3) the back strut tower bolts are located under the parcel shelf and can be a huge pain to get to depending on your factory sterio option. I have factory splits in the back which had to be removed along with the seats and parcel shelf.

4) if you have a press it would be very handy for pressing on the bottom spring plates to the Bilstein shocks (I had to use the old persuader (hammer).

5) Make sure you have spring tentioners.

The rest is easy but frustrating :)

With this setup the guards are about 10mm from the tyres (with 18's) but may sag a little more. The ride seems to be nice and firm but not to firm...

Sorry if this thread seems pointless, I am still cooling of as I just finished it. I needed to vent :)

i put in whiteline springs and bilsteins a week ago,

it took about 45 mins to remove the coilovers..

i found it very easy (with a friend who had done it before) to put them him, the only problem was:

as you said, the bottom plate for the springs would not go on for the rear shocks. the fronts went on easy. i called whiteline they said it happens sometimes, and if there was a shart edge they sometimes need to grind it off..

There were no sharp edges, the hole was just too small!!

so we used to dremel to grind the hole out a bit more and them it all went well.

(i did try and use the 'persuader' at first :) )

all up fitting took about 4 hours including removing and refitting the interior.. the whiteline springs didnt need to be compressed to fit in..

How much did it set you back? Looking at getting some to do mine shortly.

Well I payed $1000 for the bilsteins and $320 for the kings. I got the kings from capital steering & suspension and the socks from pedders. I had to haggle a bit with pedders to get the shocks for $1000...

you can get the whiteline sports pack (springs and shocks) from UAS with sau discount.. comes to around ~1215

but can add up to more once u buy dust covers if needed (i got 4 new ones) which are not cheap, around 20-25 each

I used the low ones which are supposed to lower the car 35mm at most. You have the option of standard, low and super low. But I would not go the super lows because it would cause camber probs....

Yeah i am looking at geting the "low" springs

How does your car sit now? do you have a pic?

is the UAS discount only for NSW members? Or being a Vic member, can i apply for the discount?

the springs and shocks are just what i was hoping for, car rolls less and is a lot easier to drive, ride is similar to standard ride.

only complaint is the front end feels less precise and stuck, although u do get some stabilising understeer before the tail comes out, so plenty of warning..

also when the front/rear comes out they slide nice and smooth, just overall making the car easy to drive, especially on bumpy(ALL) roads

i used to have coilovers and there is no way i could have rounded corners as quick or as stable as i do now..

Did you consider just getting new coils made for your coilovers rather than buy whole new suspension???? Much cheaper option. Obviously depends on the condition/quality of the coilovers.

hey, i considered this, but decided against it, i wanted a very good setup, and dont have the knowledge, and dont really trust suspension places to make up a set of springs to suit the shocks that would work as well as the whiteline setup

so basically i wanted a minimum of stuffing around, also my alloy tops were very noisy, so i needed to get rid of them anyway, they annoyed me!

i sold my coilovers for around $500 so in the end it only cost about 800 (1300 all up)

for springs, shocks, strut tops(from a forum member), bump stops, and new dust covers

i installed myself otherwise that would have been maybe an extra 250 or so.

I'm on this path too, already have the Bilsteins installed, although they've been working too hard with the shit springs, so I suspect they'll need a service soon... I just rang Repco for a quote on King Springs low's, and they said $220 for front AND back springs, with $10 freight... that sounds... wrong.

Anyone confirm or deny that pricing? :P

Nah, he said $110 for each set, meaning $220 all up... but maybe its more the truth, considering you feel that $440 would be too expensive.

I gave the Repco on the other side of town a call, they said $161 for the fronts, and the rears weren't in their catalogue. :P

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again? 
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer 
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
