Hi guys

I need to replace the two end bolts on my exhaust manifold coz they have snapped! My mechanic says this will cost around the 500 mark including labour to get to it, so what im thinking is while he is at it should i buy an aftermarket more highflowing exhaust manifold to replace it at the same time and save myself the labour for next time? I want to keep my existing stock turbo for now but am thinking of upgrading to a gt2530/35 are these turbos going to fit EXACTLY how the stock one does (im quite sure they are a t3 flange arent they?) if they dont what are some turbos i could look at that does?

Next question is..is it worth it, what are some good brands for the exhaust manifolds around

sounds a little pricey to get those studs fixed...

From what i gathered, it is better to spend the money elsewhere as custom ones is the only way to see a performance gain. I was in the pickle you were in, but with just one stud snapped, unless your doing big mods, standard manifold should be fine.

For a mobile fix it guy to come out to your house you to get it out i think it is about $30-$40 a stud.But you also have to take off all of the surrounding components so it is easy for him to work on you r car.But you will still probably have to pay for labour.I.e Take off your turbo,manifold and anything eles that is assosiated with being a hinderence for access to the affected stud/studs.

I paid $275 for 3 studs in the head and 3 in the exhaust pipe flange.

Imo buy yourself an ''easy out'' drill bit and get it out yourself.

Then you can walk around with your nose smelling the air, chest and elbows out thinking to your self...

Seriously, it is fairly easy. IF you have a few ring spanners, normal spanners. You will need a couple of the bug suckers. I think the water feed/return is size 17? or is it 22? I can't remember. lol :D

Seriously, it is fairly easy. IF you have a few ring spanners, normal spanners. You will need a couple of the bug suckers. I think the water feed/return is size 17? or is it 22? I can't remember. lol :D

Even easier if you download the Service manual, I am sure you can find it on here somewhere. My only concern is tapping the bolts. :D I guess thats what mates are for as well!

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch.     • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
