You've got to have rocks in your head if you are thinking of getting Cable these days (Optus or Telstra ... hello !!!)

Take a look at http://adsl.internode.on.net without a doubt the best ISP in Australia and being that you are from SA you will no doubt have access to 24MBit (2.4x quicker than Cable) for around $100 within the next 2-3mths.

Well... I worked for a Sydney-based ISP for 4yrs (so in general know the ins and outs) and instead chose to signup with Internode (after doing about 2mths of research) and have been with them for about 2-3yrs now.

Internode is about 3 light years ahead of the rest when it comes to network performance, reliability, support, expertise. They were also the first to implement ADSL2 and ADSL2+ and are 1 of very few (handful) ISP's (especially privately owned) that have their own international network links. They have plans for VOIP, Video-on-Demand, 1 of the biggest gaming servers, free unmetered downloads and radio stations etc etc. Simply put, they care about you like no other company can/does.

Checkout the /Internode forum area on http://forums.whirlpool.net.au I simply wouldn't be with anyone else.

I am with Bigponds cable network, and I am yet to see anyone else get the same speed as I do (in their homes). I am very happy with the service and reliability of BP Cable (but I do realise they weren't always that good in the past)

Ben, I admit I dont know much about internodes 24MBit, but until they deliver it into my street I wouldnt pick them as an ISP because in my experience "the next 2-3mths" often ends up beeing 12-24mths. That said I will look at it when its offered.

ATM its cable for me.

hmmmmmmmm everyone is caught up on dsl......

I am an account manager for 3 and one of our products is a datacard that sits in my laptop.

This connects in to our network at speeds of up to 384 kbps wirelessly in most metro areas around australia. We are in the process of upgrading to 2MB per second download by the end of the year and another upgrade to 10 MB per second by the end of next year all through our mobile network.

Or data rates are capped and you dont have to go home to use the connection... I have been driving with a mate of mine while writing this message connected to the net.

Kinda makes DSL boring, Sure if you want to sit on the net downloading crap all day mabye adsl is the go, but if anyone needs more info PM me.

I live in Sydney and currently using TPG's 1.5mbps.. I'm happy with the good speed, price, and have no problem until now.. I've seen Internode and they offer good plans as well, altough TPG's prices are much better.. I choose adsl, but I think cable connection is not bad at all.. it depends on your needs..

my needs are pretty straight forward, more of a lesuire than a business need. A connection that is relatively fast, able to watch steam media/online gaming with fast download and upload. At the moment, im looking in the direction of internode who meets my requirements with a resonably priced plan at 1.5mb.

hey benm, are there sub-exchanges under the site/exchange list at http://www.agile.com.au/data/service-area.htm#upcoming - I am under the Hampstead Exchange and have only just got ADSL, as we were running off a rim in the new Northgate development. Our exchange isn't on that list, but do we come under another site/exchange like Prospect? Do you know if areas that have recently got their DSLAM/MimiMux (like mine) will be easier for them to set up ADSL2+, or is it a disadvantage?

In my opinion, if looking from the price side, Internode is still more expensive altough TPG offers 10GB less (50GB) for their top home plan.. Internode's HOME-1500-Elite, $129.95/month, 1500k/256k, 60GB, shaped (reduced to 64kbps after 60GB), $129 setup fee, no contract commitment ($65 early termination fee applies if service is cancelled within 6 months).., while TPG offers 1.5Mb Unlimited/50GB, $79.95/month, Unlimited (reduced to 64kbps after 50GB), free 4 port router, $129 setup fee, 12 months contract.. So if your plan is to use the internet for 12 months continuosly, I think the differences of $50/month and free 4 port router (worth around $100) are quite significant..

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
