Ok people, one thing has to be pointed out which will clear up most of the questions.

The light works independantly from the guage, however, they are both from the same sender.

If the guage drops to zero but the light doesn't come on, then the guage is your problem.

Oil pressure is vital to your engine, if the oil pressure drops to zero and you didn't switch your motor off 5 seconds ago, then the engine is cactus anyway.

I bent my crank and had a 55thou bend in my cradle and still got 4psi oil pressure even though every single one of my main bearings had shat themselves. Chances that you would have 0 oil pressure is virtually impossible unless you totally screw all mains, plus all big ends plus the relief valve in the pump.

Get an aftermarket guage with a seperate sender....it is vital that you know your oil pressure on a more fine scale than 2, 4, 6. With the autometer guage, I know when my pressure drops 2 psi.

$180...buy one...forget your problems.

You people are like a bunch of little kids. I mean...honestly, oil pressure drops to zero, instead of taking it to a mechanic or even phoning one.....you get onto the Forums and ask people for an answer that could take days to resolve. Then ask for the price of something you can easily get by going down to your local repco or autobarn store. C'mon, do you live locked in your basement or do you actually get out into the wild every now and then. Common sense often prevails in these situations and it seems as though many people are lacking it these days.

Yep, we're the little kids!!!

Just trying to help the guy!!

Anyways...I guess it was just an indication fault after all...as his engine didn't blow up 5 seconds ago??

Honestly..it's not a battle of wits here (I hope) ....

We're just people with something in common.

Skylines and being helpful??

If someone agrees that's great, if someone doesn't......that could be even better!

It's called looking at things from 'all' angles.

Anyways...have a great week guys.

Mark superspit. :)

Couldn't agree with that advice more 3LIT3, shouldn't be too lazy to grab yourself the right tools to make sure everything is ok :)

And, dear superspit

mmmm......I wonder if people are helping sometimes, or just accelerating the ageing process of humans. Read the forum threads so far?
Yes Morgs...and I reckon, going back through these posts, that I have already.

Thankyou, champ!!

Perhaps I should rephrase, have you got something specific to say to me about my contribution to this thread, PM me. I'll give you my mobile number and you can talk to me directly instead of behind the forum.

Hiding.....??? nup, never...don't need to!

Paranoid.....maybe one of us is?

Your mobile number, why would I need that? For advice? Give it to the worried bloke who started this thread.

Thanx anyway.

I never disagreed with you....infact I totally agree with your aproach...but it shits me when people ask stupid questions and don't do a little work for themselves and rely on people like you and me for answers.

Don't get your back up...I am only saying that he needs to pick up a phone for answers to questions like...how much for a guage.

Other than that....I totally agree with what you first said.

Sorry 3LIT3, it wasn't you who was the one wanting me to PM you and have a 'chat' rather than "hiding behind the forum"...what ever that means??

We're cool?

I do see your point, and appreciate that....well said. :)

haha, dun end up fighting mates~i know my questions are quite stupid to somebody know about car, but in fact i know nothing about car, and was just trying to find out whats the possible failure before i bring my car to garage and spend shit to repair, and after i read all comment s here and other forum, i got some idea it might just coz of the sensor problem or at worst the oil pump failure...my question might stupid, but i hate going to workshop and hear those mechanic saying what the things i have no idea. so better get a little knowledge before i go

FYI people, that red light on a GTR also comes on when the oil temp reaches a preset limit ~130 degrees...

Thats good to know, i didn't know that.. I've had my engine oil temp pretty high on the track tho and haven't seen it come on, i would of said it would of been pretty close to 130 deg (before i got my oil cooler)... where did you get this info? Is it the same on R33 GTR? i'd assume so.

Got it from my Aus R32 owner's manual. I don't see why it would be any different for the 33... will scan up the page when I get a chance if you want :)

I only discovered this when I had the light come on (and stay on until the car cooled) at the track last year and the oil pressure gauge was still up. Stressed I'd done a big end, but sounded fine after cooling.

I actually didn't go to the manual then, but after removing the 3 centre gauges and replacing with 3 defi gauges subsequently, the light stayed permanently on. From here I suspected that the oil temp would trigger the light too, so I checked the manual and that's what it said :)

sorry for the ramble

    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
