Recently went for a test run in an old 15ft fibreglass boat I have now bought.

Returning to the ramp the water police were there waiting to do inspections.

The boat had a few deficincies as the owner has a new one to look after.

One the rego sticker was missing noticed by the police. He said was worth a fine. Two the fire extinguisher was unserviceable. He stated that he knows next time it will be all good. Upon leaving he commented how the owner had his moneys worth out of the bald front tyres on his ute. Also to be replaced immediately.

I might have to make my Skyline amphibious.

That sounds like responsible policing.

Cop "Hey - these things need to be fixed, if I see you with them next time it wont be a warning."

You "not a problem" then goes and gets it done.

Every one is happy, problems fixed. If only the highway patrol were as understanding.

Im on the water for cruising not so much fishing, Its my dads boat and we go on cruises across the gulf and to Kangaroo island etc. On nice days we go to Second vally for a swim then cruise back upto Brighton or Moana for another swim.

My dad does go fishing sometimes but not when Im around, too boring for me, I like speed.

Grepin,

I got in to boating/fishing 3 years or so ago now. My old man and I joined up with the coast guard and went through their boating course that obtains your boat license for you.

Well worth it. They take you and your boat out on to the water and teach you how to throw it around. Quite scary but great fun.

Nothing quite like hanging on for your life as you spin the boat almost on the spot to complete a 180degree turn. :)

We have fished and caught plenty of little crappy fish, lots of squid but thats about it. :(

We have some decent (well i think they are) GPS locations but they are out deep. We obviously haven't been 10clicks off shore yet so until then.. No big fish for us..

We have caught some huge squid where their tubes are as long as a 9.6-10ltr bucket and the head is hanging over the side. :D

I could tell you tons of my fishing stories including charter trips in Darwin catching 80cm jewfish, mulloway, barracuda, snapper and sharks, and multiple trips around Coffins Bay - last Easter we caught tons of legal whiting and snapper, trevalley, and deep sea salmon  .... this Easter we went 30km offshore at Coffins Bay, but unfortunaly some of the passengers (Chops and Carolyn my wife) got seasick so we had to go back - but the other boat that was with us stayed and they got some 25kg gropers and heaps of snapper, nangai, kingfish etc :)

You don't need to go far out to get big fish... here's two that were caught in the Port River... if you know where to go and have the patience.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
