Well I've been hell slack on the forums latley, don't think I've posted in over a month, so here's a quick update coz I know ya'll missed me! (or at least raggin on me haha)

Here's some pics of the rebuild process, mmmm shiny stuff.

First, the block, honed and bored

Then, close up of exhaust ports after porting and polishing

The head all pretty and clean

My poor clutch, it didn't like 4wd launches much haha

and some shiny new pistons with teflon skirts and valve recesses, hopefull I won't bend another valve...though, knowing me :headspin:

ETA of about a month I guess, depends how long it takes Amaru to get a new cooler *hint hint*

Well, I just had land on my desk the turbo for Marks VR4... and holy mother of god its big :D Its a customised Garrett GT3071R and a big thanks goes to Luch from Tune Agent (www.tuneagent.com) for organising the turbo at an awesome price ($700 cheaper than GCG, and anywhere else locally!). I wont go into how much power it can make, but it is a reasonably sized turbo, and the final results should be very damn impressive :D

Anyways heres the pics...

thats pretty fricking big for such a small engine isnt it ??? will be interested to see what power you get out of it and how much boost you decide to run that thing should be able to handle a fair bit by the looks of it.

 I dont know if Mark wants to keep it secret or not, but it should be very well matched to the engine.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
