I'm at the the lights at I think brunswick st just at the end of the eastern freeway. Some shitty old stationwagon volvo was reving and giving all the signs of wanting to race. I laughed and when the light went green putted away while he screamed off (cough laugh choke). Anyway I saw a red light camera and thought something was a bit odd about it, I have recently heard that some redlight cameras are now speed cameras too. Anyway this volvo zipped off at around 70 and I hung back doing the speed limit, as he went through the intersection. FLASH! So heads up, I know the lights on springvale and highstreet rd have a speed camera, so here is the second one. I believe there are currently 4 in victoria! :/

There are about 3 sets of speed/redlight camera's on alexander parade, 3 in bound, 3 out bound. They've been there for at least 2 years now. The one on higtstreet road and springvale road is NOT a speed camera, it is an updated red light camera. There are 2 different sets of speed limits that intersect there, one is 60 the other 70. The way to tell for future refrence is look for a large cyclinder on a pole or the side of a camera, thats the radar.

There are far more that 4 in victoria, there's at least 2 where mountain hwy meets boronia road.

Plenty of intersections have these now. Dandeong Rd on cnr of Orrong is another example.

Made in Sth Melb by Redflex systems: http://www.redflex.com.au/traffic/traffic_frame.htm

They look like this:

pole_cam.jpg

If you run a red - they get you.

If you speed through on green or yellow - they get you.

If you speed through red - they get you twice.

welcome to a long time ago.. jeebz, half of those were up a couple of years even before I left!

I've noticed the victorian road toll is also pretty much exactly the same as it was about 4 years ago too, they government just has a lot of money to show for it..

    • Right, but not just first manual, but the shifter is on the right (wrong?) side for the land of the free too.... Anyway, good find, 260RS got rare as soon as people realised what was under the skin
    • Thanks for posting this up, and its always nice to see a way to use a newer/more available part to keep the old stuff going. One thing I want to highlight from your write up is that you used the old gear. I am pretty sure the RWD R34 and AWD R33/34 senders would have different number of teeth because they have difference diff ratios; can you confirm? Just something for people to keep in mind if they make this change
    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
