hey guys just wanted to say hello and myabe give you a few pointers for next time round, with myself allready organised a few of these cruises before for all the siliva boys over at silviansw.com

first off, do a dawn run, make the meet up for say 3am etc. or some stupid time. for a few reasons, especially that there is no civillian traffic on the road AT ALL at this time - every time ive been there hasnt been 1 car on the old pac before.

the route we take is like old pac from berowra > wisemans run > galston gorge hillclimb > back to thornleigh maccas for breakfast. you can also reverse this route, and start with a downhill gorge run [scary] and end up with the old pac, but not advised due to traffic on the old pac. if you decide to go on a sunday morning, make sure you make it at least 3am start because around 8-10am ther are cyclists everywhere on the gorge and they ruin the run!

also, i think cops browse these forums they might of been ready for you. pm invites to select people you know only and want to come. people who you trust driving with. make the group size max 10 cars. any more than this and its a spell for disaster.

the most fun ive had is with about 5 cars only, going at it full on for the whole thing. it really takes alot out of you, make sure you all get sleep! all up round trip is about 5hrs of solid driving, meeting, stopping for a piss, etc.

it is the best feeling, nothing but you and your car driving along, hearing the BOV venting against the rockfaces with are 1/2 a meter from your car, and the wisemans run, seeing the sun rise over the mountains and shining on the water. ahh sooo peaceful... heh i better stop now!

so yer a few things to keep in mind, to have a fun, safe, bacon free night.

The last SAU cruise I went on (aside from this one) through the Nasho was relatively bacon free. That wasn't too bad a run, although I did hit a lot of traffic in the Park.

But doing a run on a Friday night right before a long weekend on Sydney's most infamous stretch of windy road is asking for trouble.

But, like Mark, I do prefer runs with a smaller number than your average SAU turnout. You can't move as quickly when there are that many cars, and it attracts a lot of attention.

i never knew ford has 300kw at the wheels for stock :)

 me neither!!!

aww come on guys.. you're being too critical!! i thought the cruise was great!!! we all made it to wisemans, and we all had a good run... even with the cops on our tail! I think most people wanted to stick to the speed limit being double dermerit weekend and all1! so as far as most peeps are concerned, it was just the cruise we wanted!!

hahaha.. nice one al... traffic in the nasho? thats cause you were tooooo slow! :) and you went the wrong way to start with! :) :elaugh:

blistc... i think our cruises are more for everyone on the forums to meet everyone else... not for a select few to stick together and do runs... don't get me wrong.. that happens as well1!! its just the more publicised forum ones are always with everyone and anyone... its each man for himself once out there, and everyone knows it :)

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
