Hey Guys,

I am buying a Stagea in the next 3 or so monthes. Yay Im so excited. Im importing it and most likely it will be an auto. So my first question is, How much will it cost me to get the car converted to a manual? And how much performance etc. will I gain from it?

Secondly, the MASA Bodykit, do they make a front bumper for the S1 Stegea? How mcuh would I be looking at to get this bodykit imported? Is there any bodykits avalible for the Stag here in Australia?

Thirdly, the engine in the Stag is the same as a 33gtst? What sought of mods have u guys done to your? What results do you have? What soughta 1/4 Miles are you running?

Cheers,

Chris

First job, learn how to spell Stagea. You can't own one if you can't spell one.

Second job, learn how to use the search button. It is your best friend, you can find answers to almost all of your questions with a quick search.

There are is thread with a link to the Masa web site that you will find if you do a search.

There are great threads on Stagea mods, both engine and suspension, with some dyno sheets. You will find them easily if you do a search.

The 1/4 mile ET's and TS's are to be found with a quick search.

Welcome to the ranks of Stagea owners :D

PS; did I mention that you shoud do a search?

yup good stuff on the Stagea choice - and as SK said - the search button is your friend! :D All your question are answered in these forums already! All except maybe one - which is a current price of the Masa front end....

I got a quote through from Ken at JapanParts.com for the front end of the kit complete (front bar, bonnet, fenders, headlights, indicators, all mounting components) of 273,000 yen (AU$3500) + shipping... and if you are creative you could organise free shipping... PM me if you're NOT creative though and I'll offer some suggestions I had teed up.

But for all your other info... happy searching and reading!

:stupid:

PS. Did I mention my Stagea is for sale? :D

So as for performance, a standard S1 Stag RS Four goes- 0-100 in just under 7 seconds

400m in 15 Seconds

Is that about what they do? As for a turbo upgrade, what would be a good upgrade for around 200-250 atw?

I did a search but It didnt come up with anything fot the 1/4 Miles of the Stags, SK, whats your best ET?

I use our Stagea for towing the race car, so I am unlikely to race the tow car. There is a video of an NZ Stagea posted up that does 11's. On the day of the video it did a best of 11.7 from memory.

Thats still damn fast!!!!! Smoked that CRX!!  Anyone got any other vids of stags?

Hey, I have a clip of my Stagea racing a Legacy GT at AIR. It was only a 15.0 pass so it's probably not what you're after.

Anyway, here's a link to some further 1/4 mile info:

Hey guys, in reagrds to the turbo, for 250kw atw, would a HKS GT3040 Turbo be to big? What sought of ET's would I be looking at with power like this?

Low 12's:cheers:

PS; the turbo contributes about 10% (price and power) of the upgrades that you will need. You won't have much change out of $15K, plus the cost of the Stagea in the first place.

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
