Don't get people wrong here. As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with Ice :) They've got the job done for everyone else I know who's been there too.

There's no favourtism from me here, seriously. I know G & Nige very well and I also know Ben really well. Both workshops are great and do great jobs.

If you're happy with 1 workshop and they've done most of the things to your car, stick with em I say. Unless of course they tuned your car and told you that you've got a "safe ping" :(

After all the hype about Racepace i have decided to check them out. Normally i take my car to ICE (and have been happy with their work as well) but I have taken the plunge and booked my car in at Racepace for a HKS 2535 install, i went there yesterday and it is the cleanest workshop i think i have ever seen!!

Very happy how he checked out my turbo for me and ordered parts on the spot to get the ball rolling...

Ill keep you all posted on the result!!

you won't be disapointed silva33. And he's tuned a couple of my mates 2535s on thier RB25 so he's done them before, stock injectors they made around 240rwkw on bens dyno (non-shootout)

SS8_Gohan: You can tune a little bit without an aftermarket ECU - if you have adjustable cam gears, and also the timing etc... but having a powerFC allows him to tune it properly.

He's got an R34 Ferni. Adjustable cam gears wont help.

LOL.....you guys crack me up!.....

I'll try not to be so scarey in future Marcus  :( ....and Snowey.....you know I only ever wear womens underwear on my head.. ....

:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

:D

HE POSTS!

You would have to be blind if on this forum and in this section and not know that "Ben from racepace" and "power FC" are common demoninators. But does he play with Autronic as well?

Anyone have an Autronic equipped car and had Ben tune it?

Ben tuned my Autronic when he built my first engine.

Got a nice 375rwkw out of it 3 years ago.

Umm, wouldn't push it... He hate rotors. I know that much.

Autronic, Motec, Apexi and if you get him on a good day he may play with your carby.

Ben did my Autronic, after a few other great tuners palyed with it. I thought I got a new car when I picked it up. More torque, response and top end.

On friends car a Zed with an RB26 & Autronic, after a re-tune he gained 40rwkw and at 5000rpm another 50rwkw on same boost level. Car makes 280rwkw. He was extremly happy.

Ben tuned my PFC, actually Ben RE-TUNED my PFC, torque and power was evenly smooth through out the rev range and yeah i belive he can carry an RB26 on his shoulder.

Well as long as my engine still survise, otherwise i know who i'll go to as for turbo upgrade as well.

  • 6 years later...

Except Ben hasn't owned it for around 2 years.

Whats there number ?

The workshop thread is generally a good place to start

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
