I have a r33 gtst wit the mods shown below....taking it to dyno and tune once it comes back from the workshop.

What sort of rwkw will I be expecting with the power FC?

Also, does anyone know the best place to tune power FC in SA Adelaide??

Platinum spark plugs gapped 0.9mm

Blitz DSBC type-R EBC boost 19psi

3' dump and frontpipe

3' high flow cat

3' catback with 5' muffler tip

HKS 2530 turbo

600x300x75 FMIC

550cc injectors

airpod

z32 afm

splitfire di ignition coils

Heavy duty clutch

GTR fuel pump

Power FC (about to put on for tuning)

Also, what else can I add as a next step to modifications? i want to keep engine internals standard though due to the cost. So anything to mod other than engine internals???

Cheers

Dan

check out "rb25 dyno thread" sly33 made 230rwkw with a very similar config. other things you could look at would be a set of cams, these will increase overall power and turbo wind up as the overall cam duration is increased

I would have to say THE best place to get a PowerFC tuned is Tilbrooks.

They are the only mob that I know of in SA that have the PowerFC software that enables them to tune it via the laptop. The software allows you to change options that are unavailable via the handcontroller. Expect to pay around $500-$600.

Second to that I would look at Boostworx. Shaun does a good job and charges bugger all. Expect to pay $200 - $300 for a complete tune.

With regards to anything else to mod, cheapest to most expensive.

Exhaust cam gear

Better boost controller (Blitz SBC-id or AVCR) that will hold just that little bit more boost up top. Turbo's near the edge of their efficiency will tend to drop boost, the avcr and blitz SBC-id adjust the duty cycle in the higher rpms to allow boost to be held at what you set it at i.e set it to 15psi not a duty cycle percentage. Its a little bit of a gamble however I have seen around 10-15rwkw gain in the top end from a better boost controller. No experience with a gt2530 though.

Tomei Poncams or 3.5" full exhaust (probably around the same price)

Apart from that you have pretty much covered everything.

    • I've tried all different combinations of BOVs/ no BOV and stock bypass valves over the years, on gear changes the stock bypass valve seems to get the car back on boost quicker because in part the turbos wheel speed isn't being slowed down by reversion, although they have issues holding boost much over the stock setting. Most aftermarket BOVs you can adjust the spring, tighter will make it open later and close sooner, but in my experience it'll cause a bit of flutter at low load/rpm anyway. I've also got some input into this whole no bov causing turbo wear, never had an issue on any on my turbos HOWEVER, I got my R33 GTST with 200k kms on it, with from what I can see still has the original turbo, no lateral shaft play but has about 4-5mm of play in and out which to me seems like a worn thrust bearing from years (100-150k kms?) of turbo flutter running no bov, so maybe there is some truth to it in the long run. But that'll never stop me loving the Stutututu while I have the car.   OP just wants to know if he can run a atmo vented BOV with no major issues and the answer is YES, plenty of people do it, there's no harm in installing it and seeing how it runs before spending $$$ on an aftermarket ecu, last time I bought a Nistune it was $2400 for install and a tune , unsure of todays prices but you get me. Crazy money to spend just to fix the minor inconvenience of stalling that can be overcome by letting the revs come down to near idle before putting the clutch in or a little bit of throttle to avoid it. You're better off leaving the ecu and tune for after a bigger turbo/injectors have been installed to take full advantage of the tune and get your moneys worth.   Let OP have his Whoosh sound without trying to break his bank haha
    • I see you missed the rest of the conversation where they have benefits, but nothing to do with avoiding breaking turbos, which is what the aftermarket BOV made all the fan boys, tuners, and modders believe was the only purpose for them...
    • But they do so for the other reasons to have a compressor bypass. It's in the name.
    • Wow. Pissy much? You on a mission to find old posts to argue with, or is this legitimately just because you're 5 years into a 1 day job?
