I have one installed in the center console -  the detectors are mounted on the front & rear bar (for alerting to cops coming up behind me) - it picks up lasers and radors. You wouldnt know it was there if you didnt know where to look. It has always gone off with plenty of warning and is set to not go off at doors etc.

what model number is this one ?

i'd be looking for something similar to that

']im decidin whether to purchase the bel rx65 or rocky mountain. I know the rocky mountain is developed usin military technology. Rocky mountain is also very competivitly priced, and according to their website, they are faster then the beltronics. Only thing stoppin me is the fact that beltronics has such a good reputation. Ive seen one bloke sellling the rx65 for 500. If we manage to get a couple of blokes together we could possibly get it between 450-480 dollars a piece. Anyone interested??? I'll find out today wether he'll budge on the price.

Cheers.

Paul

make sure you can turn k and x band off, otherwise the radar detector, no matter what brand will be useless. important ;)

2. It is only used on the car mounted radars (and unless you do a lot of country driving these are few and far between)

On the contrary - There are bulk coppers on the freeways and suburban streets with K-band vehicle mounted radars. And my last big fine was at night driving on a city street and got done with a vehicle mounted radar :)

K-Band is used by most vehicle-mounted-radar cop cars to detect your speed. Why would you turn it off?

Pretty stupid.

ok then leave k band on.

It will go off every 30 seconds... how effective will that be?

It doesn’t take a genius to realise that if your radar detector is going off so often it will be highly annoying and also it will make you much less likely to react when there is actually a multinova or camera.

I will repeat the best and most effective setup for a radar detector for city driving is to use it primarily as a multinova detector and to leave k and x band off.

If your radar detector doesnt let you turn off k and x then get a new one.

This is not an opinion, it’s a fact.

I used a Bell 900 for quite a while and found it to be worthwile.

Every day when I went to work from Mandurah to Bibra lake - it was like a mine field of speed cameras/police.

It used to warn me in adequate time and I found it usefull. If your an idiot driver who thinks that they can speed all the time and be saved, forget about it.

The radar actually made me more aware of speeding and when it beeped it reminded me to slow down. Was very impressed. Im just annoyed that they are illegal in melbounre. If we had radar detectors here, the vic goverment wouldnt make any revenue.

Had one, got my window broken into and stolen!

My stupid ass fault for not taking it down...

Had it for a few months n never saw a single detector, got stolen and went past one within a week.. lol just how things work ay

I didnt find K band was bad at all, but if u leave X band on dun go past ANY shops beep beep beep hehehe

in one of my mod's can turn x band off, i herd police dont use x band anymore, but for sum reason im speeding less with it :S, havent found a speed cam to try mine out but worth having one and all.

actually i have but it beeped when i after i drove past, got o learn the best place to mount this thing, pointed around and it picked it up like 300-500m away. soo im not too confident with these things.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
