IMACUL8,

good to hear you're not disappointed with the change - that would really suck, spending a heap of dough, and (if you are like most) losing a couple of dollars selling the old ride.

I would certainly not take offence, I asked the question and wanted your honest opinion. I can only agree that the handling on the skylines can be a bit spongey - I have spent a few bucks sorting that out - just gotta piss off the hicas now and I'll be happy.

Don't you think you may miss a bit of power oversteer occasionally though?

Only thing that worries me a bit is 13.7 with 270rwhp - sure there isn't a bit of 'operator error' somewhere:p (sorry just couldn't help myself, it was too easy LOL)

Thanks for the honest reply

Steve

Steve ...

Dont get me wrong... i loved my R33 ... the lsd and the HUGE lsd burnouts i use to drop....Awesome..... It is a great car.....

The 13.7 I stated above... I did not actually run the car... but had same mods and tuning as guys like Hicks and others and the best time so far is about a 13.7 (on stock turbo)....

Im in the 12's Dan, so thats not an issue

IMACUL8, I was only having a go in fun. BUT, I do think you are selling your old ride short, Macka has got high 12s with only 25(or 26)rwhp more than your line was running, and rev210 has run 13.8 with a zorst, pod and a bit of boost. (edit: and 100kg of paper in the boot, as he loves to point out - gotta get traction some how)

Bottom line, its good to hear your happy with your new ride, and good to hear objective comments about your new car - cheers and have a happy new year.

Steve

PS, hope santa was kind

Are rexs doing 12s on 1 bar of boosto stockie?

If so i didnt realise i thought they were more tricked up.

Plus the fact u were going on about an upgraded turbo as well

and once I put a vf22 (sti) turbo on it (which only cost $1400 as apossed to expensive garret

turbos for the nissan's).. my car will be easily into the 12's.........

I have also seen the spool up times on those STI turbos and they are bloody shocking i think the 450hp turbo something like over 4000pm full spool

Clint I was comparing my R33 against my rex..... and just stating about the turbo upgrade to get into the 12's...

Wasnt your time(12.9XX) done with you breaking or something???? Does that not make it a void pass???? I'm not sure so I'm just asking???????

Daniel

Good work Dan. Im all for a change, and despite what a lot of people on here think, i think WRXs are a very nice car. Love the rumble from the boxer engine!

I almost bought one instead of my 33, only that it sold before i got the chance. Do you still have the plates from the 33 or did they stay on the 33?

Hope you have fun with it. I know of a few low 12sec WRXs around Perth, but yet to see any GTSTs running that quick.

Still given the money for a new wrx, id take a 33GTR every time :-)

Ben

thanks Ben

If you like the rumble boxster noise.. then you'll like mine... farken loud and angry....

Yeah Ben I know of a few as well .. its usually as easy as bolting on a vf22 turbo and ecu..... should have both in a couple of months......

Still have the plates Ben.. they will go on as soon as transfer car over.

hope to see you soon Ben... You going on cruz on the 2nd...

break out or not that does not effect the et! as soon as he crosses from one beam to teh other is the et early or late.

Are you still chasing a white faced boost guage?

I never broke the line anyway I got a .250 reaction time and apparently it has to be at least .400 for a pass.

I think VSPECgtst asked an officail the other week and that time is acceptable altho the pass is fouled, i neither won or lost, The Torry that beat me got a red light tho!

Anyway who really cares ive accepted the fact skyzzer will only take my next best of 13.06 with 2.4 60ft time im sure i can better it.

Rexs dont have the power, all they have is 4WD

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
