G'day all!

I have searched and searched for detailed instructions on here..... but alas, nothing with any detail to help out the guys fitting it!

I am currently not in australia, so it makes it hard communicating to the people charged with fitting my pump

anyhow, if anyone has fitted an 044 in tank, with no dramas and can post a detailed fitment instructions I will be most greatful!!!!

basically my car isnt going anywhere till I can get this pump in, and my next thread involving the AFMS!

cheers....

I dunno man, but if your so called mechanics cant even fit the fuel pump id be going elsewhere myself.

Im no mechanic myself, i know they arent straight fit but my mechanic had no problem mounting it, might be a little bit of working out to do but thats what your paying them for.

my thoughts precisely..... seems to be a "bolt on boys" place... however they do a very good tune job :(

just need to learn the aussie way of engineering things to work well, and not just off the shelf :D:)

no real grumbles, they are top guys! just need to give them the right info so they will know how to do it....

I think 1 hour is all that is needed....

From memory, they will just need to used the standard sock from your original GTR Fuel Pump. Then use male/female type terminals to handle the wiring side of things. Then all thats left to do is mount the pump on the bracket in the same position the original pump came from with a large hose clamp.

Hey mate

Had my car down at Bel's the other day while they were sorting out your pump the 044 is certainly alot bigger then std and won't go anywere near being able to sit in the stock craddle . We thaught we would be smart and pull my pump out to have a look but turns out my pump is just standered . That was a few days ago do they have it mounted now ?.

Hey mate,

I'm not too sure on the whole "where are we now" as its the weekend, and I'm still in singapore but will be back in sydney late monday night....

back to the pump issues, I have it on very good authority from both paul and stace, and also SK that all that is needed is it to be mounted in the factory cradle after slight massaging of the mounts, then a relay added to the system...

I have given them paul's contact as he is more than happy to talk to them about it.. and to quote him " its a 1 hour job easy "

as for the only other drama I think they are having problems with the AFMS? I cant see why? as they should squeeze over with the stock rubber being streched, and then the new apexi filters bolted to the front.... as SK said to me " 2 90 deg brakets to the stock holes and you are done!"

good to see you were there to see how it was going.....

I hope to have it all sorted by mid week and tuned ......

I am 100% sure the pump and AFMS are a simple job, it is as they say "simple when you know how" ... I just dont want to end up with the bill for the learning experience.... as you could understand naturally....

i have fitted a 044 ext fuel pump intank in a r33 gtst not sure if gtr is the same, the hard part is finding the hose for the fuel intake from the bag to the pump intake. u need to modify the rail that the fuel sit on and try to make the bracket for fuel pump smal as you can.. good luck

I have one installed in tank on my R32 GTR. Got some fittings from Pirtek and did some machining to make the filter fit nicely. Used a BIG cable tie to secure the pump in the factory cradle and also got another fitting to attach the pump to the fuel hose. Disposed of the check valve that comes with the 044.

To be sure we ran heavier cables as the 044 draws more current than the standard pump, and put in a new relay that is switched by the factory relay.

It works fine. Only took a few hours.

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
