I personally think there are better brands for the same money.  Work out what your budget is, and go listen to speakers in around the price bracket.

Yep, exactly what DD said. Its all personal preferance these days. Some people like one speaker and others dont. Just get a good set of components for the fronts and your half way there.

I have had a set of the Alpine Type R splits and they were good, but after listening to other the last few months (as im upgrading mine) i have heard some that are even better and around the same dollar mark.

Post up what car you got and the type of install your looking at wanting to do and some of the more serious guys like FHRX, BADHABBIT and Chris Rogers (and many more people that work in the industry) will be more than happy to steer you in the right direction im sure.

i just fitted type r components front and type r's rear with a alpine 9835 and it sounds pretty damn good as is without a sub. I will get one but i can live with how it is at the moment. The quality is awsome and is crystal clear to me, but go to stores and try out whats on their sound boards to find what you like

ive got 5" (i think) door splits with tweeter mounted on mirror pillar, 2 x 12" subs and 6" rears all alpine and they sound fantastic, certainly very high quality. i never believed the alpine hype until i had them installed and experienced them

ive got type-rs had their type-r 12" sub wasnt dat good but their type-r splits are pretty alrite

but if u wanna spend abit more get like CDT's or Focal's

There subs are ok and produce good sound.

Type RS splits are good but for the money i would spend that little bit more and get a good/better set off components (splits) for your front stage.

splits are components ?

Yeah, he is thinking coaxes Id say.

End of the day tho really dude is, whatever you get get them installed correctly with some sound deadening. I had mine redone and deadset, it sounded a LOT better. Then some silly SQ judge (joking, hes not silly) told me about staging and imaging, so now even tho my speakers sound nice, its not 'quality' in terms of where the sound is being percived to be coming from.

NOPE not talking about coaxials at all, wouldn't waste my time with them with what you can buy splits for these days.

In the process of SD my car as it makes a very BIG difference. I used crappy spray on SD in my other car and i was supprised the affect that made let alone using the proper stuff and doing the application properally.

actually you're very wrong ... lots of speakers wont' fit without brackets which require lots of work, only a few will actually fit the stock pods ...

And if you read the original post that is from it says get something that does not require much work to install them, and after playing around with 4 different type of 6" speakers (all require little mods to fit the front doors) brackes dont require lots of work. You use the existing speaker mount that is there for our template and then use the desired mdf (eg 10-12mm) to make new ones. May require to take a little out of the door itself (although not always necessary if you think about what your doing).

None of this i can see takes a lot of work. All in all about 2 hours to make alter original pods to make custom ones up, run your cabling and mount speakers. And thats for someone that doesn't work in the industry or have much background with car stereo install.

So coming back and saying that its very wrong, back it up with proof and im the first to admit that i am. But if you read the post it says with minimal work and most 6" speakers be it coaxles or splits will go into the front doors with a little work. You want something that is going to win comps and turn heads then its a different story.

Cant go past the FOCAL splits range but thats just me. Listen to them and you will understand why.....

i recon 99.99% or people that have heard them would back you up on that as well Unscarred711. Im looking at upgrading my front stage and would love to buy a new set of Focal components. LOVE THEM :Pimp2:

Which Focal subs did you get?

Looking at maybe some K2s as the Utopias might be just that bit too 'musical' if that's possible :D

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
