Seen a few things about this sort of thing, just check all the fluids of your car (coolant, power steering fluid, all of them) and make sure they are all okay. But from what I have seen before it is one of these:

1 - When the car is first starting, it is just the lines filling up quickly & it makes that sound.

2 - There may be a problem with the heater core, otherwise I would say it is an air con problem somewhere else. Just make sure your car isn't leaking coolant either, it *could* be the start of an engine problem.

When it makes the sound just check to see if there is a smell coming from the vents, that could lead to the answer too. Good luck with it, hopefully this dosen't effect the car itself.

Edit- Just read the first post properly lol, that it isn't with the engine running, so it seems like the heater core, so focus on the AC more than anything, but double check with the fluids anyway.

cheers for the help mate, seemed to of stopped it today might of just been a one of, i would say it is the heater cos i turned it on on monday night for the 1st time since i had the car and it made that noise then the next morning and night, but its seemed to of gone away for now

My car clicks too from the climate control vents. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK. My mates n/a R33 had the same thing too. It comes and goes, gets a bit annoying. Any ideas?

im rippin me dash of on the weekend to paint it again anywyas so ill see if i can dr karl it myself and let ya now what i come up with

a mechanical clicking from behind the dash when you turn on the ignition could be a fault with one of the vent solenoid drive mechanisms. i have this problem with my car depending on how the climate control zones are set. from what i can gather its a common problem with the 33's... do a search you will find a few threads about it.

if this is your prob then i have read its just easier to live with as you have to remove the entire dash to get access to replace it.

  • 2 weeks later...

my noise from under the dash is like a vacuum motor that's doing it's thing ( opening or closing a vent), does it occassionaly when the air is on, I think. Hard to describe the noise, definitely not a clicking sound, more like a squelching noise. It's not that annoying but would be better if it wasn't there. Don't notice it when the music is up loud.

F****** driver door window stuck 3/4 way up today. Can hear a clicking sound within the door when switch is operated. Could be the motor is jammed. Any clues?

    • Hey y'all, had some bad ball joints in my tie rods, so figured i'd just replace both inners and outers.  Went with the high-misalignment system from GKTech. My car's lowered so figured why not. M14 Super Adjustable Inner Tie Rod High misalignment S13 240sx/S14/S15/Skyline tie rod ends (12mm/14mm) Welp, took over a week to get the job done, but finally did. Took it on the maiden voyage today and... - The OE boots do not sit properly on the new inner tie rods - If you look at the photo in the link above, new ITRs are basically threaded all the way through the length of them, so best I could do was tighten the boot down with a screw-down hose clamp onto the ITR's threads. - There is a "whoosh"ing sound every time I turn the steering, seems like it could be coming from the air moving into/out of boots. Concerning, bc it'll likely pull in nasty shit from the outside when I turn... namely thinking of moisture. - Looking at the rack from the back of the car, under it, the left tie rod is straighter than the right. Right droops down a bit. - My alignment is way outta wack, that's expected. Taking it to get an alignment as soon as I can. - The big thing is that the steering isn't really "springing" back like it used to. Wondering if there's something tied to pressurization of the system that I managed to f**k up. This was supposed to be a 20 min job... why doesn't anything ever go right with these cars?
