Not the Sky Chardonnay is it Duncan? :uhh:

So where is the circuit? 1 hour north of Newcastle is a LONG way from Cessnock. Is it the one up near Mangrove Mt.?

We will have to investigate insurance for the event if SAU is going to organise it.  AFAIK CAMS will not do it because it would not be a CAMS sanctioned track (maybe by then, but who knows???...) Worth looking at.

April is good for me. I've got hols starting the 24th. :D

DIno :D

No, its worse than the sky chardonnay. Didn't say "we part own a five star hotel near cessnock", now did I?

The circuit is apparently at ringwood, near raymond terrace, and is a cams venue - so insurance would be ok, but we need either cams affiliation or a cams club to organise it. would also need stewards, clerks of the course etc. I think we need to speak to the mg guys thru roy to find out full requirements.

The clubs website is here, but not sure how up to date it is:

http://www.mgcarclub.com.au/htmpages/rngWd/rngWd.htm

Decision time, the footage of the track that i saw before Xmas was actually at a Tamworth track not Springwood (1 hr north of Newcastle???).

If we want to do the Sprinwood thing, then we do it in conjunction with the MG club. They are finalising their calender now and can send an invite to us Skyline guys.

Looking at footage of their events they like the cars sideways and smoking inside tyres, so would not be upset by us drifting. However it would NOT be a free for all sideways day, but is intended for timed driving events accumulating points for their respective championship.

Never been to Tamworth, and like the idea of invading the town for a weekend. The MG club will be going back around September 2003, again there has been an unofficial invite to accompany them, or we can go it alone.

I say go it alone, that way we can do as we please without interrupting other peoples weekend sport, (The MG guys award points for championships).

I imagine accomodation in Tamworth is cheap and plentiful, and believe we have the capacity to run the event. I suppose the only question is the drive to/from and cost of mechanical failure. I just got back from Canberra where i spent NYE, i happen to like long drives, although other people may not feel the same.

From what I can Gather the Ringwood track is a Hillclimb, i.e. not a circuit. Probably not the best thing for drift anyway, but well worth it for doing a Hillclimb. :uh-huh:

The Tamworth track is worth investigating. That's about a 4.5 hour drive from Sydney so it would have to be a whole weekend.

Maybe the Nth Circuit at Oran would be good for a drift meeting?

Dino, Oran Park north = top idea, cheap to book too.

Tamworth track, haven't heard about it, and its not in my magical book of Aus racetracks? Anyone have any info?

I think the club needs to do some 12 month planning for these events, with enough notice I'm sure we can drag a decent crowd to Tamworth....

My understanding of Sydney tracks was Wakefield cheapest, then Oran , then Eastern. Does the figure of around $3000 for a day sound about right for Oran Park? (say at least 20 cars)

Im not too concerned where it is, only suggested the Tamworth course, (Look up Tamworth Sporting Car club in CAMS book) because it was a dead ringer of the drift tracks you see on Japanese videos, tight and twisty. (and cheap)

Oran Park north??? help me is that what they run the Sports sedans on, or another altered track layout.

As for thinking 12 months ahead, i think thats what we should be looking to do. I know in the next 12-18 months the Ringwood complex is going to be great fun, my friend is pumped about the development, his uncle is even building a new car better suited to the new motorsport facility.

go to http://www.racingcircuits.net/Australia/OranPark.html for a pic of the circuit layout. The GP Track can be split into the North and South circuits by opening the grey areas (where it says Agip and next to it). Go to www.oranpark.com for a photo. The Karts use the North circuit so there's quite a bit of twisty track there. :uh-huh:

Yeah, wakefield is the cheapest by a fair bit, but Oran Park North is just the figure 8, normally used by just Karts or basic driver training coz its so tight (won't get over about 140). But there are plenty of corners, and lower speed drift might be a better place for most of us to start.

Another option is a skidpan day at schofields, oran park or the new eastern creek one.

Tamworth. Bring it on! I want to race every track in Aus before I go(got bathurst, but I think albert park may be harder unless I become a celebrity), so better get up there some time.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
