wrxhoon
wrxhoon, Nice time, I think with the clutch you should bed down a flat 12. I will be there once I get my clutch in. What tyres did you run? Yea i should be able to run a flat 12 or even a high 11 with a good clutch , i will be looking for a Nismo twin plate i think . Toyo 265x35x18 in the stock 18x9 rims and full street pressure ( 38 psi ) . traction wasn't a problem , the clutch wouldn't grab at any amount of rpm , i even went down to 2500 for a 2.37 60 ft . What kind of clutch are you going for ? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/80520-wsid-last-night/page/2/#findComment-1465303 Share on other sites
sewid
Jerry have you listed your mods so far on the M-Spec? Nice time with the stock clutch. Mine is slipping at high rpm launches as well but i figured that was expected with 70k kms done on it. I'm heading to Japan (tommorrow) to load up two suitcases with stuff. Here's praying customs dont notice. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/80520-wsid-last-night/page/2/#findComment-1465327 Share on other sites

Here's praying customs dont notice. My clutch was holding 100% on road and while tuned , its just when you sidestep @ 5000 + to much heat in to it and then it would kepp slipping especialy on gear changes . On my last run i only used about 4500 ( not enough realy for a clean launch ) and that was my best run . Mods are as i told you before , gtss's , p f/c , 550 cc Nismo injectors , hard i/c pipping , ( stock i/c ) pod filters ,( for now , still looking for a stock airbox ) ebc ( 1.2 bar) , hks front pipes ,( stock dumps , they are s/s on the 34 ) 3" catback ( very quiet )and thats about it . Its a very responsive car with that set up . How long are you in Japan for ? good luck with the shopping list . Check your p.m Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/80520-wsid-last-night/page/2/#findComment-1465367 Share on other sites

Flaps
I was out there watching as per normal. Some people just don't get it. There must have been atleast 15 different cars that had no idea how to stage!! It just holds up the whole night. Highlight of the night was the dark red s14 throwing a good burnout all the way up to the staging line and then hitting the starter when he came over to tell him off. Good to see some r32 gtst's out. benm
The inability to stage thing really pisses me off. It shows that they clearly have either never been to WSID to watch others race, or they have watched but failed to pay any attention. That red S14 thing was quite funny. Yay lets stand directly infront of a car that's doing a burnout to teach him a lesson, oh shit he ran into me. Quite suprised the driver didn't get out and give him a mouthful. It was only about 15mins earlier the announcers said over the PA "Do not do a burnout across the line, we don't care how big your burnout is before the line but don't go over it". From what I could see he hadn't passed the line yet Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/80520-wsid-last-night/page/2/#findComment-1466133 Share on other sites
silver gts-t
ok heres another n00b comment, staging, im pressuming its just moving forward till the 1st yellow comes on and the to say your ready you touch forward again till the second yellow lights up. correct? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/80520-wsid-last-night/page/2/#findComment-1467064 Share on other sites
benm
Yes that's right. As you approach the line you will see on either side of your lane (the red painted bit) a narrow white line (which is actually about 20-30cm wide I believe). Slowly moving in will initiate the first 'pre-stage' light, moving forward a few cm again will initiate the 2nd light (you are now ready to race). If you happen to roll too far forward and the 1st 'pre-stage' light goes out but the 2nd staging light stays on don't panic just stay where you are. It just means that you can't move forward anymore otherwise you will breakout (red light = disqualified). Many people make the mistake of quickly trying to reverse back and then drive forward again into stage however before they can do that the 'starter' has already started the staging sequence and you'll screw up your run and timing. Their is 0.4sec between each of the yellow/amber lights before the green lights up. I usually release the clutch when I seen the 2nd (of 4) amber lights 'go out'. From this I was getting consistent 0.1-0.2sec reaction times (which don't effect your time on wednesday nights but it's the easiest way to beat any car you are racing against).
