ANDRA Sport Compact Championship final moves to May 2006

Recently, the Cabin Group responsible for the Drag Combat events has notified ANDRA that it is no longer able to commit to the 2005/2006 ANDRA Sport Compact Championship Series. Citing commercial reasons, the Cabin Group advised ANDRA that they would not be continuing their drag racing program.

This will impact on three of the six rounds of the championship schedule announced recently. Drag Combat events were to be held on rounds 2, 3 and 6. Round 2 and 6 were to be held at WSID in NSW, and Round 3 was ear-marked for Willowbank Raceway in QLD.

ANDRA has already exploring alternatives to replace two of the rounds. The final round will now be the Compak Attak event at WSID on May 21st 2006.

“This certainly presents a challenge, because the series was locked in and ready to go”, commented Jason O’Halloran – ANDRA Sport Compact Director. “ANDRA is still determined to make this a win – win situation. We remain confident that the series will be a huge success, and the racers will enjoy the new opportunities on offer”.

The revised 2005/2006 ANDRA Sport Compact Championship Series dates and locations will be confirmed within two weeks, and another press release will follow to up date with more information as it comes to hand. The Fast Fours Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway in QLD on the 17th and 18th of September will remain as the opening round of the Series.

thats the thing I never got to race at any of them hahaha

they are more interested in putting on a show eh, can't understand that they can get 10,000 people to look at a glorified "carpark" over two days.....and no-one wants to see actual cars racing...what is wrong with this country....in the states its the other way around.....and i thought "septics" were strange

Lets see what we can do to get another couple of events happening and keep the very first Sport Compact Series alive and kicking.

Screw [cabin] and their PI$$ANT, money-grabbing knob-polishing show scene.

I resolve to not purchase another issue of Autosalon Magazine or attend another [cabin] show and I encourage you all to do the same.

HEY hang on all you people!!!! I love CABIN. They have been great to me, they were right behind me all the way throughout my rise to glory!! Trophies, novelty cheques, VIP dinners. I loved John Baremans and his mullet.

Twoogle and I have never been so happy.

This is good news and it is also bad news. bad news is that there are only three SCS events, but only two will have points available. Good news is that CABIN are not longer involved in this sport. They can have their Autosalons. Drag racing is for racers not ricers.

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
