yea..

Does your laptop have a serial port? (COM1 or COM2)? Because you need it!

http://web.utk.edu/~cjohns32/calumsult/calumsult_full.zip

I use the last one, but feel free to download and install them all

The best software is : http://home.iprimus.com.au/tkolo/datascan.htm

But you need to pay $25. Sponsor me? lol

Only got the last two programs... I have two laptops at home; one is huge and the other one is tiny.

The huge one has a range of plugs... it's got the really big one (wide) and one that is half its length (short).

The small one only has the short plug. If this is the com port... I will bring the smaller laptop as its more convenient. Could you please put a pic up?

Small Laptop has the VGA Port only (well it looks like it)

Big Laptop has both VGA and LPT 1 Port

Please advise d00dz

Stan: Sorry for not posting, you mentioned you were going to be asking for help and I didn't even see it..

Was in talks with stan to help him do his oil change, and was thinking of doing mine at the same time - so i'm hoping that if I bring some beer + oil - we can have an alcohol fuelled oil change eh!..

on a serious note - I was planning on doing this next weekend anyways by myself however stan asked me to help, and we think it'd be good to have some pro's there..

Keep us updated with the location/plan - hopefully somewhere on the north shore.

I'll bring a case.. probably just gonna do oil + filter..

also where can I get the oil filter from and which one is it? i'll be putting in motul 4100 - most of you guys recommended it - 5w40 I believe, which is quite thin when cold, however should be good for the turbo when doing cold starts..

Hope to see you there..

also - where's the dyno day.. wouldn't mind seeing wht my car does @ the wheels..

Links

Also - stan i'd say that you'll need a laptop with the serial port - vga is for your video .. that or the parallel.. but i'm pretty sure the serial should be right..

also - where can I get a consult cable from - atleast a home made jobby..

cheers,

Links

Cheers Link! Yeah everyone, there is now at least 3 cases of beer up for grabs on the day - that's a lot of bloody beer! Someone's got to want this (I feel like I'm doing an auction here)

Links - the consult cable is being provided by d00dz... I think he got it from Nissan? The dyno day is next Saturday @ OCAU, PM d00dz for more details - top guy, he'll give you all the details!

I got the consult cable from newkleer, it was $75. Works well with laptop, if you have a serial cable. Stan you can borrow it as long as you give it back to Ed when your finished.

I wont be able to make it next Sunday as im working from 10-6.

As for the dyno its organised by OCAU (Overclockers Australia) @ DAT. PM me for more info.

Need a taker on this offer... Links and I need your help :P Ideally it will happen next Sunday - only day where everyone is really free!

As soon as a date and place is set, I'll go shopping for the cold drinks :D

I'm still weighing up what i'll do.. if i'm heading to the Dyno Day.. I might hold off on an oil change - I know - would make sense to do it first (maybe.. - only done 2,500kms on the current oil)..

If I don't head there - i'll def be doing an oil change.. either with help.. or by myself.. just jack it up.. unscrew the screws.. drain the oil.. put back together.. refill.. and voila.. oil change..

do people recommend flushing with mineral oil? to clean it out, make sure there is no blockages..

anyways - regardless of whether I do mine or not, def want to be there.. i'll post up later this week what i'm up to..

Stan does needs help though..

Links 4100 is a pretty cheap arse oil. I'd go for the 8100 or even if you are dead keen and love the thought of nice oil circulating through your engine get some 300V Chrono. that's what i use. it's nice stuff. even smells good.

whatever you decide best to stick to it once you start.

Mr Ed and Steve seem to be the only two who have their place on offer at the moment.

Could you two please provide a suitable date for this get together? Preferrably a Sunday...

Also, please state the choice of alcohol you would like to be paid in :D Remember, it's one case for the people who work on the car, and another for the person who offers the place!

man im easy... pretty much any sunday soon.....

Its not really my place but a couple of dead end streets with no one around... good sunlight...

hows this look everyone? good for some photos too :D

How far east is east? And correction, the North is still the best!

Haha, from the photo it looks like Alexandria / Zetland?

Before I give the green light and start selling tickets to this MAIN EVENT, are there any other takers from the North? Anyone?

Ok so it's now from the North to the East *we're still the best* :D

Ed - Choose your beer, choose your time!

Everyone else, umm, you'll have to ask Ed if he'll let you spectate LOL.

You've got everything right Ed? Hey d00dz, now that its in the east you can come too!

    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
    • -10 is plenty for running to an oil cooler. When you look at oil feeds, like power steering feeds, they're much smaller, and then just a larger hose size to move volume in less pressure. No need for -12. Even on the race cars, like Duncans, and endurance cars, most of them are all running -10 and everything works perfectly fine, temps are under control, and there's no restrictions.
    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
    • More so GReddy oil relocation kits, sandwich plates, etc. all use 10AN fittings. And same, I've only used 10AN and my car sees track work (circuit, doing laps, not 10 sec squirt business).
