Sydneykid
For some time I have been getting requests from many people for my recommended suspension components and settings. So I have organised a SAU Group Buy for Whiteline suspension components and Bilstein shock absorbers for R33GTST Series 1 and Series 2. We get 15% discount off recommended retail and free freight if the individual order is over $500. Plus anyone who spends $1,000 gets an additional 5% discount. I have chosen the springs rates and the stabiliser bar rates based on my experience with this model. Plus the shocks come with matching valving for those spring rates and 5 circlip grooves for setting the height up just how you want it. In addition the adjustable stabiliser bars come with 2 extra holes for even more adjustment. The recommended settings for road use are also included. Delivery is via Toll Priority and I have organised an Australia wide price, so it doesn't matter where you live, you will get the parts at the same price as everyone else. Please pop over to the Group Buy section for full details. cheers PS; I did R33GTST as it is the most popular Skyline model, but if there is enough interest for other models I can organise a similar Group Buy. So please let me know the level of interest. Obviously it will take me a little while to specify all of the spring and stabiliser bar rates and the shock valving to suite. siksII
hey i have always wondered, are the bilstein shocks you buy through whiteline and the ones you are offering revalved, or are they unchanged from when they are delivered from the bilstein suppliers, and the whiteline springs have been designed with them in mind? i ask because i asked for a set of whiteline springs and shocks from from a shop in sydney, and they said they shocks are unchanged by whiteline, so instead of buying them through whiteline then selling to me, they just get them straight from bilstein. only odd thing i can see about my shocks is they only came with once circlip groove. Others car, they have to be revalved as the standard valving is not OK for the springs rates, they are designed for only standard spring rates. I have specified the valving for these as I believe that they needed changing for the springs rates. Plus I have built in enough window in the valving so that the stabiliser bar rates I have chosen are also covered. I have also specified the extra circlip grooves for the most popular ride heights. Standard Bislteins only come with one circlip groove, sometimes 2 if the same shock is used on 2 different cars. It costs around $10 per groove extra to have them put in, for a set of 4 shocks with 4 extra grooves per shocks is around $150. cheers Edited August 26, 2005 by Sydneykid Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85470-group-buy-r32-r33-gtst-suspension/#findComment-1547928 Share on other sites

Sydneykid
Interested in full kit for a R32 GTS-4Cheers, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> R32 GTS4's can be tricky. At the bottom of the rear shocks on yours does it have the fork (like a GTR) or a bush (like a GTST)? I have already done the valving for the R32GTR front shocks which will work very well in the GTS4, plus the spring rates and stabiliser bar rates. I haven't finished the rears yet though, but it is only a few days away. Did you want adjustable or fixed stabiliser bars? cheers Edited August 26, 2005 by Sydneykid Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85470-group-buy-r32-r33-gtst-suspension/#findComment-1547959 Share on other sites
B-Man
I'll check today when I am underneath the car whilst changing the standard exhaust over to a 3" System. I think fixed stabaliser bars - I'm not that into tuning suspension. Ionos
Excuse my ignorance, I dont know too much about suspension. Am I correct in stating that these shocks are height adjustable? What adjustment range is available. Does changing the height also change the dampening rate? Are they easy to adjust whilst on the car? Sydneykid
Excuse my ignorance, I dont know too much about suspension.1. Am I correct in stating that these shocks are height adjustable? 2. What adjustment range is available. 3. Does changing the height also change the dampening rate? 4. Are they easy to adjust whilst on the car? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. Yep, they have 6 cirlip grooves, 2 higher than standard and 3 lower than standard. 2. The grooves are 8mm apart, so you get around 50 mm of height adjustment 3. No 4. No The concept is you choose what height you want and set the circlips at that height then put them in the car. The standard circlip groove is 355 mm centre of wheel to guard, which is 25 mm lower than the new car standard with the Whiteline coils. So you can go down to 347mm, 339mm and 331mm. Or up to 363mm or 371mm. These are the most common heights found in R33GTSTs. Any lower than 331mm and you have severe geometry problems, excessive camber, radical drive shaft angles (looses HP) and there is simply not enough travel to soak up the bumps. The 371mm is close to standard for people who need the height for clearance but they want good handling at the same time. cheers Edited August 27, 2005 by Sydneykid Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85470-group-buy-r32-r33-gtst-suspension/#findComment-1548063 Share on other sites

If the shock needs revalving then they would do it, if it doesn't then they won't. I have specified the valving for the Bilsteins that I am using, based on my own shock dyno tests. Because they need to have a window that is good for the springs on their own. Plus is good for the stabiliser bar rates if someone wants both springs and bars. That's the important thing with shocks, they have a window, not one single point at which they are "right". The spring and bar rates have to fit in that window, and that's the tricky bit, particularly when you add adjustable stabiliser bars into the equation. Height makes no difference to valving. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85470-group-buy-r32-r33-gtst-suspension/#findComment-1548987 Share on other sites
siksII
ah ok thanks heaps for all the info, i just hope my standard bilsteins are in 'the window' they certainly feel good! The car has excellent traction around corners, and very comfortable ride when compared with my old suspension (HKS Hypermax D (came on the car)) i would like to add bars later as well, although i can handle without, but when i do i hope the bilsteins are still in their 'window' as well! i also always thought that valving was related to height, now i know its not...
