I have seen a DVD of the Bug, courtesy of Audi Bris. on this car and althought I'm not a fan of it, but honestly, comparing the bug and the koenigseggCCR is like comparing a go-kart to an F1 car, Really the technology in the bugs is beyond me and many other imaginations. although conceptually a street car, but it would leave most super exotic lay in it wakes on the track.

There is a video of a k.CCR doing the round of hockemhein, going by the time a Z tune GTR would whip it up like a little school kid.

Pity for the price of the bug most will end up being locked up away never to see the light of day.

Do you have to be invited to buy one new like the enzo?

I'm not sure I agree with your go-kart vs. F1 analogy. Maybe a go kart and an F1 car driven by someone really really really fat. The Bugatti is too heavy, and is more of a GT car with supercar performance (like a Mercedes McLaren SLR) than an uncompromising supercar. There is no doubt that the technology behind the Bugatti is impressive, but ultimately it makes the car too fat to run away from the (much) lighter Koenigsegg CCR. A simple power to weight ratio comparison:

Koenigsegg CCR: 1180kg / 807 bhp = 0.68 bhp / kg

Bugatti Veyron: 1900 kg / 1001 bhp = 0.53 bhp / kg

(source: www.ultimatecarpage.com)

To make the same power to weight as the Koenigsegg, the Veyron would have to be producing nearly 1300 hp. This incredible power to weight is enough for Koenigsegg to claim a 9 second 1/4 mile at 146 mph. And that's a big claim indeed. Added is the fact that the Koenigsegg can hold a lateral force of 1.3g while cornering.

The Bugatti will be infinitely more comfortable, more easy to drive, better built, and (likely) more reliable. More importantly, the Bugatti name, the ludicrous price tag and the record setting 2km/h top speed advantage will make it infinitely more desirable for the super rich than the no name Koenigsegg.

But if the Bug can lap a track faster than the Egg, I will eat my own shoes.

(Note: I am not a particular fan of either of these cars, I am just absolutely convinced that the Koenigsegg would be the faster car).

I agree.

I cant see that over 2 tonne fat ass bug being that quick around a race track compared to more track oriented supercars.

Wait and see. AFAIK, I would be supprised, if the egg gets off the ground. So far the word in Europe, is that there have been lots of claims and a one of speed runs and tractability has yet to be verify/power figures are in the same basket. For a one off , yes it could do all those thing, but getting to a cuctomer deliverable car is a new ball game together, and the only way to get there is that you have lots of racing experience and money, both which the egg lack.

Anyway time will tell, I was supprise to see VAG pushed ahead with the bug, and I'm still umm and arrring on delivery dates.

It's all fine to take order, it's no good as a customer if they deliver it 10 years later.

It seems your 10 year prediction for 'Egg delivery is a bit off. A number of the world's richest (and luckiest) car enthusiasts have already taken delivery:

Koenigsegg have made a lot of claims about the CCR, but they have made one official top speed run at the Nardo High Speed bowl. Video here. They clocked 387km/h, which is apparently around 16km/h faster than the McLaren F1 acheived on the same track. Note that the Nardo bowl will not usually reveal a cars absolute maximum velocity due to the fact that you are constantly cornering on an embankment, which puts huge stress on the tires. The McLaren F1's official Vmax, as well as the Bugattis record breaking 400+km/h run, were recorded on Volkwagens high speed testing ground, which is entirely straight and flat, allowing the true Vmax to be reached. The McLaren F1 also had the wipers and mirrors removed for its run, unlike the "Egg which was 100% standard, including leather, stereo and A/C. The only modification was the addition of a roll cage. I can only assume the Bugatti was standard as well - I think there would be some angry customers if they modified it for the record breaking run given the crap they have already had to put up with in regards to performance claims and delivery dates. Koenigsegg officially state the car is good for at least 395km/h, and unofficially claim a 405km/h vmax.

10 year delivery date was refering to the bug, sorry for the confusion,

but I'm really couldn't care much for the egg, as far as I'm concern, the general motorist have more to benifit from cars like the bug and some of the other concept merc. As these car generate more cutting edge engineering technology, which will then filter down to cars that you me and everyone else drive. As for the egg, don't see much new technology there.

Anyway, everyone have there prefered wish car, and neither of these are mine, but I'm more biased toward the technology that they brings doesn't matter where it comes from.

Be interesting to see how much an egg resell in a couple of year though.

same goes for the zonda. Old tech cashing in on "supercar" performance.

But an Enzo is a totally different animal, which I have much respect for.

denham u can buy a enzo... theres a place in melb claiming to have one for sale for 1.5 mil.

oh n to buy one u had to own 2 ferraris previously ferrari says

good to c bugatti finally reaching the goal it had many yrs ago

Alot of ppls see super exotic collectable cars for sale, and they are for sale for a reason, ppls with those sort of money don't ditch something they waited years on , and as I remember you virtually have to beg ferrari to sell you an Enzo.

Most collectable super exotic you see for sale are some what "slighty used" if you read between the lines.

A mint condition Enzo will fetch 1.5m U.S.

and a mint F1 mac will fetch 1.0m U.S.

but I have seen F1 mac in the $650k region, wonder what's going on there.

Yeah, despite how much I've been talking it up, I'm not a fan at all of the Koenigsegg. I have great respect for it's immense performance, but I do not desire one. And I agree with the you on the technology front - It's more an extreme extension of existing technology and doesnt really bring anything new to the supercar game. They have a few patents for it, but they arent anything revolutionary.

But what does the Bugatti have as far as new technology? 7 speed gearbox came out in the BMW M5. High performance All wheel drive systems have been around since the 80's Audi Quattro. The duel clutch gearbox has been in the Audi/VW group for a while now (golf, TT, etc), although this is the first "high torque" application in a road car. Bugatti has done quad turbos before. Twin engine management has been done before (I think Aston Martin has it in their Vanquish...). Compact W engine layout has been used by VW/Audi for a while now. So I dont think there is too much new technology there. In fact having a look at all that it seems to just be a collaboration of everything the VW/Audi group and Bugatti have ever done. A halo car to improve sales of lesser models?

Although it makes up for it with 0-300km/h in 14 seconds (McLaren F1 does it in 28 seconds). And 1000+ bhp is also new. Plus Bugatti reckon they will "tweak" a few extra bhp out of the customer vehicles just to ensure they are happy hahaha!

As for the Enzo, I dont think I could ever own that car. I couldn't handle the attention!!!

- Checks bank account.......

Damn it I am only 1.499 Million short!!! :D

Ferrari only selling the enzo new to people who have owned previous ferraris before has made their resale valve nearly double.

Hopefully Linsay Fox will get the new Bug as he has every other supercar in his collection stored in Melbourne already, including the enzo.

Ok to set the rcord straight. to buy an Enzo when it was still at production stage, what you had to do was prove to them that why you desreves the car and the reasons behind it.

Alot of the mega wealthy who desire the car but weren't previous ferrari owner were imaediately out of the hunt. As for the criteria was that you have to had numerous , not 2 ferrari in your stable. That you also a prominant business/social person.

one australian collector spend $40 000.00 AUD compiling a port folio, to attain the car, which in the end was not successful.

As for the bug, I think you have to own an oil field somewhere or you are the current dictator of some 3rd world country. HAHA, anyway it's beyong me. lol

As for cutting edge engineering on the bug, I'm not too clear, but there Are numerous electronic/drive train pattern. I could be wrong don't hold me to that, as I'm no engineer,

Just a hard working labourer.

    • Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. Got the seats out (hoping I could find some existing grommets but no such luck). By tapping and measuring etc. I could figure out where I could drill through if needed. But first I borrowed an inspection camera and managed to go through factory holes in the chassis rail and could see that the captive nut was holding steady which is why it could retighten. So it was indeed a stripped section of thread, so I applied downforce by levering the bolt head with a screwdriver and went slowly back and forth until it came out. Camera helped a lot cos I could monitor that the captive nut was holding tight. Now I just have one very seized main subframe nut to tackle 😅
    • BOVs do have a purpose, if you ever log pressure before and after the throttle body, you will see a spike pre throttle on lift off from a WOT condition. Enough to bend throttle blades / damage e-throttle motors or simple assist in blowing off cooler pipes. FWIW, the above on really applies to those running at least 2 bar of boost. OP shouldn't have an issue, on the other hand, here are some videos of my shit box over a decade ago with some succulent dose with the airbox on and off. That shit box is unrecognisable these days 🫠
    • I've tried all different combinations of BOVs/ no BOV and stock bypass valves over the years, on gear changes the stock bypass valve seems to get the car back on boost quicker because in part the turbos wheel speed isn't being slowed down by reversion, although they have issues holding boost much over the stock setting. Most aftermarket BOVs you can adjust the spring, tighter will make it open later and close sooner, but in my experience it'll cause a bit of flutter at low load/rpm anyway. I've also got some input into this whole no bov causing turbo wear, never had an issue on any on my turbos HOWEVER, I got my R33 GTST with 200k kms on it, with from what I can see still has the original turbo, no lateral shaft play but has about 4-5mm of play in and out which to me seems like a worn thrust bearing from years (100-150k kms?) of turbo flutter running no bov, so maybe there is some truth to it in the long run. But that'll never stop me loving the Stutututu while I have the car.   OP just wants to know if he can run a atmo vented BOV with no major issues and the answer is YES, plenty of people do it, there's no harm in installing it and seeing how it runs before spending $$$ on an aftermarket ecu, last time I bought a Nistune it was $2400 for install and a tune , unsure of todays prices but you get me. Crazy money to spend just to fix the minor inconvenience of stalling that can be overcome by letting the revs come down to near idle before putting the clutch in or a little bit of throttle to avoid it. You're better off leaving the ecu and tune for after a bigger turbo/injectors have been installed to take full advantage of the tune and get your moneys worth.   Let OP have his Whoosh sound without trying to break his bank haha
    • I see you missed the rest of the conversation where they have benefits, but nothing to do with avoiding breaking turbos, which is what the aftermarket BOV made all the fan boys, tuners, and modders believe was the only purpose for them...
    • But they do so for the other reasons to have a compressor bypass. It's in the name.
